Just a personal experience.

I have 3 computers on my office plus one at home. My brother in law builds them for a living and has maintained all of my hardware and software for over 15 years.

I was told to install it on 1 machine (at least for the 1st year, get the bugs out and avoid online upgrades) test it out and decide for yourself. Have had no problems to report whatsoever, but I do have friends who have had software issues.

I am considering prior to next tax season installing Vista on all machines and keeping my laptop on XP for any emergency....

I am quite sure other opinions will exist....

We just got a new Dell and there was no choice offered. I would have preferred to stay with XP. The only real complaint I have is that not all my old XP software is compatible. (I bought a new digital camera last Christmas and it doesn't work with the new computer.) Otherwise, no problems and it hasn't ever crashed or frozen up.

I have vista on my laptop, it is used mainly when I travel and seems ok, runs all my software no problem, Takes some getting used to though.

I'm using Vista. Sometimes when I read message boards and open too many windows the system crashes. The same thing happened to me in my old xp system, but on my old system I was running 256k of ram. On my new vista system, I installed 4gb of ram. It still has this problem, but the problem seems more severe? Also, vista only read 3gb eventhough I have 4 gb installed. I can't install any more ram, because it's a 32 bit system. I have vista premium by the way.

I always wait for SP1 to come out before trying any new OS.

There are more controls in Vista & I really don't like being controlled by a chica or an operating system  !

I work in IT: According to MS, Vista was released with the equivalence of SP 1 already installed as their bug checking has gotten alot better. Your decision should be a no-brainer; go with Vista, but there are a lot of differnet versions, so I would insure you get at least the version that has the features to meet your needs. PM me if you want more guidance.

I just bought a high-end Core 2 Duo Gateway Desktop with 4GB of RAM, 750 GB hardrive and Windows Vista. I recommend going with Vista since all computers will eventually have it. Why continue with old technology? It's very great with security and works very well for me.

Try to get a computer with about 2GB of RAM since Vista itself needs 1GB RAM to run. Otherwise, you may have a slow system that will not multi-task.

MG, I am willing to throw in my Citizen 120 9 pin dot matrix printer as well  The ebay auction closes in 1 hour, if the $56.75 minimum is not met for this incredible package deal, I may offer it to ol Circus for a discounted weekly rental for my novia/novio and I @ the soon to be announced Morazon park location. It is my understanding that this will be his first franchised operation owned and operated by the "Don's" Papi & Gordo respectively

Vista has been total garbage on the 3 computers Ive tried it on. I had to go find new drivers for my cameras to work, and they are all within 3 months of being new.

I much prefer XP and have had no complaints with the OS.

And just for the record, MAC's are great if your building a movie or doing anime, but theyre a horrid investment for everyday computing IMO
