I doubt that prostitution will ever be declared illegal in CR. However I believe it will become increasingly difficult to find it practiced openly and most hotels will not allow "guests"

The result will be higher prices both for the girl and a place to go to consummate the relationship. The other danger, if that happens, is the girl will know of a place to go which often is a place that is a set up for you being robbed.

Just my opinion and hopefully I will be proven wrong.

What happened to Save the Ch*ldren of Costa Rica? Are they not getting on board with the fight...

I don't know about anyone else, but I do not like seeing front page news like this. I whole-heartedly agree with their fight to stop under-age prostitution, and I support their beliefs. But now they're talking about fighting against ALL P4P, including adults. Not good.... :(

I don't think it's that bad. As long as it's not the government talking like that and taking that action. If a bunch of hotels start that policy as all you'll see is a bunch of entrepenuers step into the void and and create hotels just for mongers ala Sportsman's, Hotel M etc.

Is Casa Vino still for sale?, might be a good time to look into that.

This reminds me, how is the big crackdown on prostitution in Jaco going? Beatle bar empty?

agree with bucs24, someone else will step up. Don't see it affecting prices etc. On the other hand i believe you never go th there place, to many bad things can happen.

Actually, I am thinking the author confusing age with sex.

Seriously, though I think it is significant that there has been a change to include a campaign against all prostitution and not just under-age prostitution, the latter of course being aborrent. The next step will be to outlaw prostitution so they can attract a higher class tourist. I think they see it as a zero sum game; you can’t get the high brow gringa-led tourist traffic if you are flaunting older gringos slamming young hotties. It offends the tender sensibilities or world view of the Gringa, who has been led to believe that they have cornered the pu*sy market.

I might be misinformed, but on my trips past Parque Morazan in the evening, I did not see any young women, no matter what their age was, perhaps I have been misinformed and these are actually young women afterall, but I dont know many woman that have a 5 oclock shadow at 4 in the morning.

The real problem is the prostitution in the tourism destinations. You will find increasing pressure to do something about it in Jaco. Lonely Planet recently singled out Playa Flamingo (perhaps wrongly) as well. As long as most of the trade remains in San Jose, there won't be much pressure, because you don't get a lot of mixture with the "resort tourists". However, it is just a matter of time before things come to a head in Jaco with all of the investment there.

Like ID said, hotels might eventually restrict "guests."

Perhaps this will increase the number of MPs?

The DRH girls might be fewer since there may only be the SL and the DRH left to go to without some outrageous charge.

Open an MP.... seems that eventually lots of them will be opening... as long as prostitution is legal, they can't shut it down.

I see them putting pressure on hotels simply so the sex trade isn't so in your face (seeing 60 year olds walking into a hotel with a 22 year old).

Maybe the SL will eventually be an MP? Rooms by the hour? Actually, the SL as an MP would be kind of cool.
