Doing some research today for my trip tomorrow, looked at my bank statement from the last trip. What I found tells me the ATMs I used, no matter at a bank, shopping mall or at the DelRay all had the exact same exchange rate so I guess it doesn't really make a difference which ATM you use since I didn't get charged with a fee at any of them.

Using the ATM at DelRay, I was getting 519.5 colone per dollar from April 11 to the end of the month. I got the same exchange rate on April 30 at Banco Cuscatlan in Escazu.
On May 1-3, I got 518.7 colone per dollar at both DelRay and the Credomatic located just down the road from DR. Only got 516.7 at the Credomatic on May 4 but it rebounded to 518.7 by May 10.

The exchange rates at ATM's are determined by YOUR bank, not the ATM. That's why you can use 5 different ATM's on the same day and get the same exact rate. I believe the ATM fee is already factored into the amount because I never have a separate fee charged. And I know these banks aren't letting me use their ATM's out of the goodness of their hearts.

Didn't know that Orange but makes sense. Then why all the varying advice on which ATM to use if the bank gives you the same exchange rate. I got all kinds of advice on that and no one ever told me same rate applied to all. Or do other banks charge fees I guess we are not getting charged?

Pro,

I have a batch of cookies for you to deliver.......

Sorry, back to the topic at hand, Pro are using Compass? They do not have a fee per se. You turn in your reciepts and they refund all charges, not sure if any other institutions work likewise.

A little side note here since I have this fear of TR's.
On my last trip after going without sleep for 50+ hrs prior to liftoff, At 3:30 am I discover that I may have an issue, where's my debit card? I have $300 in cash aye, aye,aye
No choice but head to DFW @5 am, off to Houston, call Compass cxl card. NEXT... Call Mikey, 'Can you help a brother out', explain my dilema and of course being the Gentleman he is MG bankrolls my 6 nights in exhange for a personal check and personal favors which I see no end insight to at this moment :P

Just another example of the quality of members this site attracts.

Thank you MG,

NFLOHOLAB

How many points did he charge you?

I only ask because "word on the street" (according to Irish Drifter) is that he may be in Waste Management business. :P

NFL HolaB
I wouldn't be worried so much about the points or whether you will get whacked, but rather whether you will have to show up at MG's next fishing trip as his bitch, with a plaid skirt and pigtails.

On a more serious note, however, it doesn't surprise me that MG would do such a thing. This last trip, I got caught short on cash and was getting very nervous about whether I would be able to fulfill my obligations (mostly a stipend to my chica). Fortunately, things worked out. Had they not, I would be terribly embarrased to ask such a favor, as I am sure you were. Nevertheless, I don't doubt that one or more of my brothers would have helped me out, even though they know nothing more about me than I go by ciaociao and that we have established something of a trust. MikeyB, you're a decent SOB. And I mean that in a nice way

Ciaociao

Thank you Ciao. But don’t say that in front of the chica’s. I don't want that getting around!!!

Actually, the only reason I lent HolaNFloridaB the money, is because I wanted to get a personal check from him. And it worked! Now, I have his bank name, address, account number and routing number for wire transfers. I've already started funneling money from his account to one of my offshore accounts. I didn't realize it, but that sonofabitch is loaded!!! Just don't tell him what I'm doing, and I'll give you a little $$$ from his account also. It'll be our little secret!

All seriousness aside.... I was brought up in a very large, tight-knit, Roman Catholic Sicilian family. My family is my family, and my friends are no different. We take care of “our own”. And Ciaociao, I have no doubt that if you were in need of some $$$, myself or another CRT brother would’ve stepped up, and given you what you needed. I have done favors for many friends, as I’m sure we all have. I’d rather GIVE you money, than have you try to steal it from me. And I’m fairly certain, that if I was ever short on cash, I could count on one of the brethren to help me out.

Again, isn't that what it's all about ?!?!?

Pura Vida,
MG

Don't worry MG, they would never believe it anyway!

Yeah, HolaNFloridaB is quite rich. He's a small businessman

In the unlikely event that were to occur, I am sure you are right.
