Can anyone tell me if there is any additional requirements other than a passport to fly from Costa Rica to Colombia with a return flight to Costa Rica. I do live in the US? Thanks for your help. |

I bought a round trip ticket from CR to Columbia 5 months ago. When I flew back to CR from Columbia, the Taca lady didn't want to let me board because I did not have a ticket out of CR with me. She said this was because I am not a CR resident. I showed her my Delta Skymiles card that had 200,000 miles on it and the 4 credit cards I had with me. Finally after 15 minutes she had me sign a form saying that I have the financial means to pay for a ticket to the US from CR, then allowed me to board. Just a hassle. |

I have been back and forth at least 15 times, never had that issue coming back from Colombia to CR. I have also been back and forth from the US as well many times. I have never had to prove my travel documents either. They really don't give us that much trouble from what I can see.. |

not saying this is true, but I have heard the political establishment in Colombia is pissed that Al Gore snubbed Colombian Pres Uribe in Miami. and now, they may require US passport holders to obtain visitor Visas. probably not a tremendous burden, just one more possible piece of paperwork and more fees. the "snub from bub" is apparently getting big play in Colombia and inflaming the general populace. |

false alarm....I have determined the rumors were only a cruel joke started by a gringo intent on discouraging other gringo visitors. could not find anything on the news wires to confirm rumor. |

As has been discussed often on this board...many major US airlines will not fly you into Costa Rica or other foreign countries without proof of a ticket OUTBOUND. In some cases they insist it be to your domestic country...but all of this is enforced very hap hazzardly. American Airlines has been the most notorious for insisting you have a return ticket to enter Costa Rica. They claim it is a $1000 fine if they bring someone to CR on a flight who has no return ticket...plus they have to return the person free of charge if immigration turns them around. It's always safest to have a provable return ticket when flying to most of these Latin countries. I have twice had to book a last minute EXPENSIVE ticket just to meet the requirements. No fun... |
