How serious is the owrk you want to have done. I have used Dr Sergio Chen (you will find his contact info in the threads below) He has been used by myself as well as several of my friends and other CRT members, he comes HIGHYLY recommended. As far as Prisma, I am meeting with them and one other specialist Dr Garita on 4/18 regarding some serious implant and other work, I will be in town at least a week...Will report back after my consultations. Will you be in town the same time frame, we can compare notes..... PM me for more info if you would like. You can read about most of my trials and tribulations in the CRT links below This is an article I have found reseraching my issues. http://www.tftb.com/beautyfromafar/newsmile1.html I have also spoke with the gentlemen by telephone who authored the article above Here are some links on this site regarding dentistry, both Prisma as well as others. Hope this helps https://costaricaticas.com/phpBB2/viewto ... ght=prisma https://costaricaticas.com/phpBB2/vi ... php?t=7902 https://costaricaticas.com/phpBB2/viewto ... ght=prisma https://costaricaticas.com/phpBB2/viewto ... ght=prisma |

First a disclaimer. I have never had any dental work done at Prisma. From what has been posted on Costa Rica discussion boards I would make certain that you have a second opinion before committing to any course of treatment recommended by Prisma. I have not read of any complaints concerning the quality of their work. |

I,and several other CRT members have been going to Prisma Dental for about 4 years. They have a beautiful, modern facility in Rohrmeser with it's own lab attached. It is run by a husband and wife team,Cordero and Rubenstein, along with other associates. I have been very happy with their sevice and have recommended them several times with no complaints. While their prices may be a little higher than some other dentists here, because of their elaborate facilities, their rates are still significantly less than in the States. |

i had some porcelin implants done by jose garita; different office than mario, but they broke in half and my local dentist put in a semi permanent filling that is stronger than the costa rica work first time he did whitening for me was awesome though painful that night, 2nd whitening was waste of money- no difference i'd say as long as your get personal refs from someone that did the same type of work that you want and has lived with it 1 year successfully, and at least half price vs US then proceed i think i'll stick with my local dentist now for minor stuff |

I went in and priced a routine cleaning. It was at least twice what was necessary. Stupid in my opinion. Any good local dentist was about half if I remember...maybe less. If I needed a bridge or something like that, I would consider the clinic at Univ Ulacit in downtown San Jose. It really wouldn't have to last forever...I think the price for a three tooth bridge is about $200. If I was twenty years old I might need better than the University.....but I am older. Pura Vida |
