Post subject:  classified ad section

I think it would be great if the administers of this site would consider a classified ad section. I think it would boost local membership and provide a great service. Member posts could be limited to prevent people taking advantage of the service. A small premium could be charged to business that may want to post more often. Would you use it to find furniture for sale or to sell your motorcycle?

Thanks for the offer, it has been considererd, but I have to work out the logistics of making sure the classified section would not interfere with persons offering services that would be in competition with pay VIP advertisers.

Let me look at the logistics, possible software upgrades and how much maintenance is involved, but definitely something to consider.

THANK YOU!

Not enough interest at all. How many guys on here want to go buy a chair in CR? 5 tops?

When it all comes down to it, its a mongering forum, with info pertaining to that topic.

What are you saying you wouldnt want to buy a used mattress from someone on the board, why not?
OTOH all jokes aside this would be good for people buying used cars and large ticket items as such, from someone that is more trustworthy than your average CR resident (I think, at least from whom I have met). GRs Ipod and other items would be good as well, anyway it would be good for people who just moved to CR to meet some local CRTs and get grounded with someone locals and the transaction would be a bonus.
Admin 1: Craigs list technology is what you would want to use.

I really do not see any need for such a section on this board. There are all kind of places that a classified ad may be placed for free. Graig's List Costa Rica, various Yahoo groups such as, Costa Rica Living, Costa Rica Classifieds, Escazu News, to name a few.

CRT serves a purpose that is not duplicated in Costa Rica why try to add something that exists, in sufficient quantity, to meet the needs of local gringo's?

I agree. When I want to find out what the chicas are up to in Costa Rica I log onto CostaRicaTicas, for a couch I always check on Craigslist.

What's more important... I'm going to MDE next month!!

I do not see a conflict of interest with current advertisers. CRT sells banner ads so does Tico Times. In fact I see where current contributers could benifit. For example If TSL wanted to have a lunch special. Or maybe Tico Times wants to run a special rate. I have a buyer for a house in Santa Ana but it does not seem right to put that out on the forum. A seperate section would not hurt any one who did not want to look at it, but it could provide additional revenue for this site.
