Post subject:  Some Excellent Internet Surfing Advice

From the depths of my experience, knowledge and know-how, I present:

ZEEBRAWON'S ULTIMATE INTERNET SURFING TIPS FOR CR

#10: Never, never, never assume your private information is private on another computer that you don't own or control. This includes internet cafes and public computers. I can give you tips on ensuring your privacy, btw. PM me.

#9: Your laptop should have a firewall. Configured by someone who knows firewalls. Or use the Windows firewall at the minimum. Never disable it at a hotspot.

#8: Keep your computer fresh like you keep yourself fresh for chicas: Defrag your harddrive. Install more RAM in your system. Control your startup menu (autoruns).

#7: Con Condon, siempre, no? Bueno entonces -- Spyware, Antivirus protection are MANDATORY with updates BEFORE you go to CR.

#6: Never surf to websites on a wireless hotspot and enter personal information unless the session is SECURE. How do you know? Check the icon on the lower right (IE/Firefox) side and notice the padlock. It should be locked. You should also notice HTTPS in the browser line.

#5: Always, always, ALWAYS use your computer with a screen saver password (if it's yours). Set the password on the screen saver.

#4: Want a faster internet surfing experience? There are many things which can 'tweak' your browser and Windows to ensure you have a quicker connection than normal. I can help, pm me on those.

#3: Use an alternate browser, like Firefox. CRT is firefox friendly, although Ive had some problems with the main page only. Otherwise, 90% of the sites on the net shouldn't give you an issue. Firefox even has a 'Render in Internet Explorer' option to keep you surfing all the time with it, regardless of whether a page requires FF or IE. Good stuff.

#2: Ask for help. Many gringos and ticos/ticas should know something you may not. Just ask.

#1: Never, ever give your personal login, credentials or other secure or private information to anyone else to use. That's just dumb.

Hope I have benefited you with some helpful hints.

Damn....that's some good stuff. And all this coming from a guy who got on a plane to SJO, on a Superbowl weekend, without a room reservation! You got some juevos, my friend! Great meeting you, and from the looks of things, you had a good weekend on the 'other side'. We'll have to do it again sometime!

Bah. No reservation?

That's easily fixed when I hack in to the wireless at sportsmens and 'fix' my room to the penthouse.

Ba-whahahahahahaha.

Ahem.

Just kidding.

Nice hanging with you too. Damn, you can survive on 3 hours sleep? My man, you are super phreaking man. I relish my 13 hours.

Good stuff!

Back in the states I usually need about 8 hours of sleep a day and about 10 at night. It's the complete opposite in Costa Rica, for whatever reasons.

Hell yeah! 3 hours sleep is plenty when I'm in CR. I can sleep in my office when I get back home, but when in CR, my time is limited and precious!

The key ???? Vitamins. I'm talking about REAL vitamins.....multi-vitamins, not ED vitamins. And eat lots of oranges. In Florida, there's never a shortage of oranges.

Besides that, we'll have plenty of time to sleep when we're dead!

Pura Vida,
MG

MG: My next trip (should it happen) will be with ALOT of Vitamin C (not cialis). Them freaking packets you mix in water are great too.

My main problem in CR? Nutrition and water. Here in the states, I gulp a gallon of water a day, no shit. And I eat like 6 small meals throughout the day, tuna, fish, etc. Then there's the sleep.

I know it can be done in CR, but it takes planning and resolve. And damn, I need to cut back on the beer and spirits. In a damned day, I must drink 2 gallons of beer. Not good but it does smooth over the edges nicely.

TP: Hehe, 8 during day and 10 at night? Yeah, sounds like me. :)

BL: DUUUUUDE! You're a manimal. Enjoyed hanging with you. Colonial was a nice find.

You should also check out room 401 at the Morazan -- but then again, you probably already know and who am I telling? :)
