Often a particular product is not available, but some sort of local substitute is. A classic example is the lemon as we know it in North America and Eurasia. It doesn't exist, but many more varieties of lime than I thought were possible are grown all over. There are numerous varieties of peppers available here. CR is fairly close to the origin of the capsicum family by some reports. Sample, find what you like and adapt. Try the Central Market. |
