Its a decent sized town. I actually got delayed in a traffic jam there the last time I passed through on a bus (around dusk). It seems to stretch mostly along the coastal highway for a km or two but also extends at least 1-2 blocks on either side (maybe more, I don't really know never having gotten out to explore it). It even has fullfledged bus terminal or sorts with 2-3 bays. And I've noticed at least 1-2 seedy looking bars heading down some of the side streets. I have no idea of whether they have a newspaper. Just out of curiousity, why would you be asking about something like that?

I have actually spent a night in Parrita. As far as I know, it has no newspaper. It is just north of Quepos. At this time, the Parrita area is being targetted by developers. You will see alot of property for sale in this area. Yes, Parrita has a few bars but I have never seen any obvious working girls in them.

Why was I in Parrita? Incredible story that would be too long to tell. Just suffice to say it was just another "Costa Rican" adventure in the land of make believe. :-)

The reason i was asking is;that i do research on crashed WWII airplanes.
On Dec28,1942 2nd Lt Rodolfo Vargas went missing over the Parrita area in his P-40E fighter aircraft and has never been found. I will be in CR Jan 13-19 and i thought i might just do a day trip and run an ad in the local paper just to see if any evidence of the crash has ever surfaced. These searches are like looking for a needle in a hay stack and it is like the lottery"you can't win if you don't play". In actuality he may have been found; but i have no knowledge of it. If he hasn't his family would like to have him back i am sure.
