First, for those of you who read this as bragging, please get over it. People go to Vegas for "whale" status and the ability to be recognized and appreciated for their business. Why doesn't Costa Rica establishments recognize "whales?" I have been around most of the establishments talked about on this website and spent quite a bit of money. Most know that I spend freely and all that are around me are happy. I even had one hotel call the manager of this site because I commited to a large amount of future reservations and they wanted to check up on me. I will spend thousands of dollars in a few hours for the right party or event. I just do not see the forward thinking that would be required for whales to return. I especially do not understand it in Costa Rica as the amount of money that is being spent is high. If I am willing to spend $5-10,000 over a 10 day period in Cr at one establishment, you would think that you would be somewhat catered to. Just does not happen. Have a Great Day, Dave |

Dave; There was a time when I received a little (little compared to Vegas) whale treatment. About 5 or 6 years ago when I was still traveling back and forth, I made contact with a gentelman named Nick who ran Casino Europa. He would put me up in the Marazan gratis as long as I played 6 hours per day at the Tropical, Royal Dutch or Raddison. He gave me his card upon which he wrote a note (in Spanish). I would check in with the pit boss every time I bought in. The pit boss kept a record of my play and reported it to Nick. Nick worked for the "Cubans" who eventually let him go. As far as I know, this was the only type of comps given out. Also, when the "Shoe" first opened, Dewey would on occasion comp me to a steak dinner upstairs but alas, those days are gone. LVSteve |

You may want to try the White House Casino/Hotel/Spa in Escazu. It is the most Vegas-like experience I've had in any of the CR casinos in terms of customer service. I haven't spent enough $ to know what they offer but it seems like that would be right up their alley. |
