Post subject: | Free Intermediate Spanish Lessons from the BBC |
I thought I would share this with other students of the Spanish language. I’ve been through a half-dozen Spanish home-study courses over the last couple of years. I have learned a lot, and can usually express my thoughts when I want to say something. However, I have a lot of trouble understanding the rapid-fire Spanish spoken in everyday situations. I’ve been searching for an intermediate course that emphasizes listening comprehension. I found a web page that has audios of news reports along with written texts so you can follow along. This has helped me a lot. Some pages also have quizzes to help you understand things like: Imperfect vs. Perfect tense, and Reflexive/Pronominal verbs, etc. If you’re interested, check out: http://www.bbc.co.uk/languages/spanish/news/topic/ They even have excerpts from pop songs with English/Spanish translations. http://www.bbc.co.uk/languages/spanish/songs/ They also have beginning courses and it is all free. http://www.bbc.co.uk/languages/spanish/ No, I do not work for the BBC. I hope this helps someone. |

Great! Thanks! I might add along the lines of this thread, the best on-line Spanish-English dictionary I have found is at http://education.yahoo.com/reference/dict_en_es/ It includes all the verb forms and tenses when looking up a Spanish word and also a lot of the idioms. You can also buy it from Houghlin Mifflin for just $13 as a stand alone program so you don't have to be on the internet to use it. Ken |

Jazzbo... Yep, the song link goes to a forbidden Error 403 page...but... If you do as I so often do and select the "text only" version at the top left of the page... no more forbidden. La puerta abre. ![]() |

Update to Ken/ShyGuy's post above and quoted below: The stand-alone e-Reference Spanish stand-alone now sells for $26.95. Windows version requires 125 Mb of free disk space, and the Mac OS version requires 75 Mb of disk space. --------- ShyGuy wrote: Great! Thanks!
