Post subject:  Plastic Injection Molds and Molding

Hello Boys,
I have recently opened a Plastic Injection Moldmaking company in CR.
If any of you are involved with this type of industry or have some friends who purchase Injection Molds, please PM me.
There is nothing like a built in excuse to "have to go" to CR for molds trials.
Thanks,
The Good Doctor

Elmedicobueno:

Do you have the capability of producing soft plastic fishing tackle?

Elmedicobueno,

I am in the polymers distribution business. I currently supply several OEM's/molding companies in CR.

I make it down ~ every quarter for a week at a time... I will fly to San Jose on Nov. 28th; staying at the SL.

If you are in town, stop by the SL. Let me buy you a drink... It would be good for me to understand your mold making capabilities. I also call on OEM's in the states and have discussed the idea of molding in CR with them. Usually, one of the first questions they have pertains to mold making and mold repair capabilities in CR. (I'm trying to do my part in slowing the mass exodus to China, etc...).

Shoot me a PM if you are going to be in town.

Lee,
We produce the molds, not the plastic parts. In my company in the States I have machined molds for soft plastic fishing tackle a while back with a company-- Ohare tropical??
I don't really remember. I do remember making squids and stuff like that.
we can make a mold for pretty much anything.

As you and I have spoken in the past, my former company was a HUGE user of engineering grade plastics. On site mold maker and repair. That company is in trouble (which company in the auto industry isn't) and there is world class talent in that facility. I will be in touch. I called one of the guys today. If they go down you will have no shortage of people to contact. :-) I know nothing about the mold making but do know a bit about the Van Dorn and Cincinnati Milicron presses. Also, end arm tooling. Great excuse to make a trip to paradise.

Post subject:  industrial molds

industrial molds and components are real heavy. Are you thinking

of cnc machining new molds there and then shipping via ship or cargo plane.

About four years back a San Jose CNC operation displayed their machined products at a airport display. maybe subcontracting
work down there for smaller machined parts might work better with
fedex or ups.

Hey Elmedicobueno,
Were the molds that you machined awhile back, for a product that went by the name of........."The Selby Snake"?

selby snake.....no
the molds are for export back to the usa. yes expensive, but the low cost labor makes up for it.
a company called Rand R did display their parts. they do good work. the problem with CR is the ticos have no sence of urgency. I need my own company to control deliveries. delivery dates to US clients are a must. In cr, give or take a month or 2......

Maybe colombia has better sense of urgeny.

they have some excellent business directories.

I know they have a bigger talent pool /skill level and industrial base to work with.

the security is getter better there also.
instead of quarterly visits maybe being a manufacturers rep for a number of industries would get you down there more.

best of luck
