In today's Inside Costa Rica:

Getting Married in Costa Rica: A Wedding in Paradise
Thinking of getting married in Costa Rica? You could never go wrong!

With canopy tours, scuba diving, sports fishing, golf, and surfing you will never want to leave. Costa Rica has over a dozen national parks and beautiful sites that are perfect for weddings.

Manuel Anttonio National Park offers four stunning beaches, a magnificent setting with islands offshore, and lush rainforests with several welcoming trails. In this park, you are guaranteed close-up encounters with monkeys, sloths, coatimundis, and scarlet macaws. This is an incredible place to visit as you journey around Costa Rica.

If you are NOT a Costa Rican citizen, you will only be required to have a passport valid for at least six months.

If you are marrying a Costa Rican citizen, your future spouse will require the following documents:
- A Costa Rican identity card - "cédula"
- A Certificate of Civil Status issued by the Civil Registry.

If your spouse has been married before in Costa Rica, they will require these additional documents:
- A certified copy of the divorce decree,or
- A certified copy of your previous spouse's death.

If your female spouse had been divorced or widowed, she can remarry only three hundred days after the official issuance date of the divorce decree or former spouses death certificate.

The requirement can be waived if future wife can prove that she is not pregnant before the marriage ceremony, taking a pregnancy test administered by the Supreme Court of Costa Rica at the Forensic Medicine Office in San Joaquin de Flores in Heredia. If the pregnancy test is negative, marriage can occur immediately.

To make the marriage official, you will need two "non relative" witnesses to your wedding. They must have the following documents: For non-Costa Rican citizens: a passport valid for at least six months. For Costa Rican citizens: a cédula.

A lawyer, judge or priest in Costa Rica can perform the civil ceremony and binding when the document is registered with the Registro Civil (Civil Registry).

Marriages legally performed and valid in Costa Rica are also legally valid in other countries. Your marriage certificate will be issued by the Registro Civil between one or two months after being registered.

Your marriage will be legally recognized in the U.S. or Canada when you or your lawyer who performed the ceremony submits your marriage certificate with the appropriate certifications to the U.S. or Canadian Embassies in Costa Rica.

To be legally recognized in the U.S. or Canada., your marriage certificate must be:
- Translated into English by an Official Translator accredited by the Ministry of Foreign Relations
- Authenticated by the Ministry of Foreign Relations.
- Notarized by a Public Notary
- Certified and signed by the embassy's Consular Section.

This should be a sticky with all the guys losing their minds down here lately.
We could add a subsection for marrrying DelRey chicas and what to expect. Then require each gringo to get his head examined and then explain in 1000 words or more to VegasBob why he wants to marry a working girl.

I think more important that the lost Gringo involved should spend an evening with VegasBob, this should clear up any stupidty spell the lost Gringo is under.

If this doesn't work, we just need to take him out back and shoot him to put him out of his misery. This can be a very infectious disease, Dr. Bob cured me, and he doesn't even play golf on Wednesdays! :P

Pura Vida and love the chicas, bunnies, kittens, ticas or latinas......but only from a safe distance. With our border patrol between us and them!

One thing very important is a pre nuptial agreement. If the chica does not want to sign it then run. With the agreement she has no rights to anything you own buy or have in the future. With out it your phucked in more ways than in bed with her.

One attorney who is good at this is Ronald el gordo at 371 2023 He does both the co habitation agreement and pre nuptial in spanish and english for around 400 US very cheap on what it will cost you from your pension , bank accounts etc

If all else fails go see VB

NOTE If you live with a chica for more than 35 months she can declare that your married by the law here and grab everything you have

Just go into any marrage with open eyes and mind and a good contract

Hell my last pre nup had a weight clause and sex clause in it LOL

With all due respect to my friend MG,I don't know why you even post this stuff. Posting this info to the weak lovestruck guys that lurk here on CRT is like giving drugs to a druggie. You become an enabler to them. It's like giving them bullets and showing them how to load the gun to blow their brains out. Also my savior rate is pretty dismal. I talk about as many guys out of getting too involved with the chicas here as the lady out front of the DR who tries to talk the guys out of frequenting the place. Most of them just listen to me and hear NOTHING.They always have the same glazed look in their eyes. If I had to make a living based on my success rate,I'd starve to death. Hey...anyone know when Handy Jr in due.

Hey VB, if they don't listen to you they get what they deserve. Who cares if a chica cleans them out if they don't have any better sense than that.

Actually VB, I posted this because I was amazed at how easy they make it sound.

There have been numerous threads in the past, about how difficult it is to bring a chica to the states, or get her a temporary visa, or get married, etc.
This article makes it sound like a breeze. I was very surprised at how easy they make it sound.

In addition, we are all adults here. If a guy does not want to believe what he reads, or what other members tell him, then it makes no difference. He is gonna do whatever he wants to do. If he is serious about taking "the dive", then nothing anyone says or writes will change that.

Basically, I thought it was an interesting read.......

Post subject:  Getting married

Actually as girm as it sounds I do know a couple of mongers who have married a tica and are really happy and not being screwed. They took advise from an ole fart and did pre nups and co habitation agreements.

These are filed both here in CR and in the States. The tica knows the day the big D comes she gets nothing. So she settles in and becoms a good wife for the better life.

The Girls who work us mongers do not really like it so when their prince shows up they are willing to change but only if they sign the contracts.

Getting married with out one is like phucking with out a condom a columbian pro with STD's Your going to get burned.

Not all things are deadly but beware and not be misguided
