Post subject:  Women's clothing size in CR vs US

I have a question for the residents of CR or others who may know this...

A friend of mine is trying to buy something for a woman in CR but he doesn't know how to compare that to sizes in U.S.

The woman is a size 7-8, what would be the comparable size in the states?

Thanks.

My friend did a search online and couldn't find any info.

Thanks.

Orange,
There's got to be a conversion chart somewhere. I'm pretty sure they use metric sizes. A couple months ago, I bought a pair of custom made boots in Playa del Coco. I wear a size 10, but the new boots are a size 44. If I can find something, I'll PM you.

If all else fails, look for Pequeño, Medio or Grande!

This is what I did a Google search on:
"international clothing size equivalents"

http://www.bwild.com/gisich.html

Try this for many, many more:

Now I know why all the large t-shirts I buy that are made overseas never fit!

Orange.........take it from a guy that has experience......they will not appreciate it. Just pay them when you are there. don't waste you time trying something special you think they will love. They love money, not you.

It is reality!

I have to agree with Grey Ghost don't waste your time & $$! You will only find the clothes don't fit them & be stuck trying to give them away. When they don't fit they get pissed at you anyway, no way to really win :? .

If your friend can match her size with someone he knows locally, he can ask the local girl what size she wears. But, size differs between companies so if he knows someone locally that is the size of the woman in CR, do this:

Get a shirt from the local woman and measure in inches from shoulder seam to shoulder seam. The seam I'm talking about is the seam that the sleeve connects to. Take this measurement to the store, anything that matches will likely fit the women in CR.

If he wants to buy her pants (jeans, whatever), take a pair of jeans from the local girl, button them, lay them on a hard surface, and measure across the waist. Take this measurement to the store, anything that matches will likely fit the women in CR.

I've used the above system to buy for my GFs over the years - it worked for me.

Did you guys know that if you take a pair of buttoned jeans off the shelf and wrap the waist around your neck, they will fit your waist if the ends touch when wrapping the waist around your neck?

Bring her into my bodega and let her spend a few hours going through my inventory. Be prepared though, because she'll leave with a suitcase full..jajaja...no seriously, I can be of help for the sizes as I do sell about 5,000 -10,000 pieces of US clothing annually.

First, in the US, all sizes are not created equal. Due to marketing and womens' vanity, a small is not a small, but a medium. Same with numbers. A 7 in Aeropostale is not the same 7 as say, GAP, or DKNY. So it is difficult to buy just on size and hope it fits. I have one client who wears a 7 YMI Jeans, 5 in Aeropostale, and 8 in others. She wears S in some bands, M in others. Gotta love US Marketing.

The 44 you referred to is the standard used in Europe. In shoes, the sizes are printed inside many shoes. Below is another link for size conversion:

You can check out Carbon38, they have all the sizes mentioned properly. I also bought a sports bra, a legging and a pair of shoe for myself last week only. They have the size chart available for all the areas and it is actually very easy to understand.

We welcome everyone here as long as they are nice. I find sports bras very binding.
Just kidding, for the the humor deficient posters out there.
