I lost my debit card and my Bank sent out a replacement to the address on the Presidente website. It has been a few days, long enough to get me worried, and I was wondering if anyone has ever had anything mailed to the Presidente before? How long did it take? And were there any problems? |

Are we talking "mail" as in the US Postal service or Fed Ex or maybe DHL? I once priority mailed a letter to the Del Rey via the US postal service using the address they gave me. It came back about a month latter. Good luck. Berk..... |

YO Hombre: Never, I repeat never use regular mail or even prioity mail. It can take weeks to arrive. Your problema is not with the Pres but with the mail handlers in CR. Fed Ex is the only way to go but like so many things about CR it is expensive. Your best bet would be to cancel that card and the new one "in the mail" and clear away those worries. Get one when you return to the states. Tell me you do have a back up credit card por favor.....if not, you may have to dress in drag and work the Blue Marlin. |

my experience. mail 2 to 3 weeks, I get the Tico times mailed up, it is consistent but late. DHL 3 days. Fiedler |

Forget it if you are only there for a few days, as it wont arrive in time. I sent a letter to a nica once, first of all, i did not address it, but I spelled out how to get it there, go to the Ch**drens' hospital, then go right 100 meters.....on and on......got the letter back 45 days later, couldnt find the address.....duh, when I had written precise directions...Dont count on anything arriving in a timely fashion, there.....Actually, come to think of it, I have never seen a letter carrier there, never....Do they even have a mail service? |

Yes, I get mailed delivered. The mail carriers due not have regular daily routes. They deliver only to an area they have mail for that day and since most monthly bills (and junk mail) are delivered by messengers you might only see the letter carrier once every few weeks. They use motor scooters to get around. |

Irish Drifter, Yes you are right, me wrong, I remember reading that inside the times, still late though. But how about Tico shopping.com, I had some favorite sause and goodies sent up, they are Costa Rica based, I kept the box. The box was covered with 57 X 300 colones stamps. 5 weeks if I remember. I have a PO box with MailBoxes Etc. in SJO and did a test. Any mail received is supposed to be forwarded to my PO Box in the US, also with MailBoxes Etc. I had a Tico friend that lives in Cartago mail two test letters together at the same time, via dropping them off at the post office. One letter arrived at the CR PO Box in 4 weeks and the other in 6 weeks. Neither letter was forwarded to my US PO Box per my contractural arrangements. YMMV Madhatter |

I don't know about regular mail as it takes FOREVER.. I have also lost a CC in CR and it was sent via UPS by my CC company and it arrived 48 hours later. Personally I use DHL to Latin America it does seem to be a better alternative price wise as well as time wise than UPS.. Forget FED EX prices out of hand. |
