Post subject:  phucking Lawyers

I just recently talked to a married Monger friend of mine in the States. He informed me that he got caught by his wife having an affair with a girl that he found on Craigs List. It seems that his "mistress" had a jealous boyfriend who looked through her e-mails that she HADN'T DELETED and found out what was going on.He was so pissed off that he called my friend's wife. Well now the whole matter is being handled by their lawyers. Here's the bizarre part. Her Lawyer is demanding half of what he spent on the mistress over the last 2 years as part of their joint assets. I don't want to make any of you married guys nervous, but what if you get in the same bind and your wife's lawyer demands half the money you have spent over the years coming here to CR and pther mongering destinations. I wonder if they could take depositions from Eddie at ZB and John at the DR.

"Hell hath no fury as a woman spurned"...we all need to remember that and plan for that whatever our circumstances may be. OBviously the courts and legal system in the USA are going overboard on these settlement issues. I think they would be wasting the money trying to come to CR to depose people about your actions here. It would be difficult to prove unless they find one of your "novias"...or have photos (watch out for that one if youre married). If one of my exs tried suing for back "travel expenses", I would go after their clothes, beauty care, travel and other expenses in return. They would end up owing ME money in my past marriages.

Of course, the best way is to see this coming before it 'Happens", have cash stashed offshore where it cant be traced or reached (easy enough to do if you are traveling to this region anyways), and talk to them before they talk to their lawyers. Pre-educating my ex on the costs of fighting in courts and making a "pre settlement" (unless you already are smart enough to have an enforceable prenupt) saved me a LOT of attorney fees and cashing out of stocks I didnt want to liquidate. Probably doesnt work with ALL women, but worth a shot to be nice, rational, but firm on what you will do if they Phuck with you. My approach was, do this fairly my way...or I will find a way to give everything or lose everything before YOU see it. Again...all done nicely, honestly, and at the right time. NOT in the middle of a spat or emotional high tide point. And finally, YOUR lawyer has to be smarter and tougher than HERs.

VB points out the risks of not being careful here if you are married. Lets learn from this guys experience...

Most of you will already be aware of this, but here's a little intel for those that are not.

Had occasion to speak to a gringo who works at HQ for the Scotia Bank. He confirmed that getting a bank account here if you are not a resident can present problems.

However, he informed me that ANYONE can secure a safety deposit box with the reference of a tico who has an account at that bank. The account would be in HIS or HER name, but you could be listed as having access privileges and YOU COULD retain both keys, insuring that your reference could not get access unless you were present.

You could deposit US currency in the box where you could draw on it as necessary. Remember you can only bring in $9,999 at a time without having to declare it. Best part......NO DEFLATION

No DEflation...unless it is against the Euro, Wan, Real or Colombian peso this past year. FYI...in many Panama banks you can open an account and have your funds in Euros or other currencies...and switch back and forth at will. Just an additional thought. And they pay interest on deposits also:)

Great advice Tman. I did the pre-sale as well. Warning of the high cost of attorneys, the stress, time spent, the uncertainty of the outcome etc.. Works wonders to ease over some of the rough spots. Another thing for those of you who ARE stupid enough to send money through Western Union, that is traceable (obviously). If what VB says is true that could really suck!! Also, (lord help you) if you ever knock up one of the chicas in CR and are sending dinero and they go for support they KNOW WU receipts document ability to pay. It is a dangerous, dangerous hobby we participate in. Great fun but with equally great risks. The smart guys go down there, have multiple chicas, USE condoms and when they return home develop amnesia. When in CR, those smart ones forget their real name and forget their phone numbers.

BTW, lawyers suck. :-)

I think his lawyer would have to be extra smart,
to win a case like that in the U.S.A., or at least get
an outcome with only half his assets gone.

The courts seem to have a slant for the women
from the git-go, even without a lawyer. At least that
is my take on things, after seeing what happened to
a couple of my friends, who went through a divorce,
and they didn't even cheat.

If I ever do get married, doubtful as it is, but if I do,
I will surely have a strong prenupt, and look into
that advice from Tman about offshore accounts.
I've busted my ass way to hard over the years
to obtain what I have, I damn sure ain't given it
up without a serious fight.

I'd much rather be getting upset over what a lawyer actually received for a client than what a lawyer is demanding. There is a world of difference.

Most of a couples assets is in their house these days so good luck getting cash into offshore accounts. Most people in the USA (I doubt married CRTers are living any different) are living either paycheck to paycheck or beyond their means so good luck with moving the cash out of the house.

Best bet is to be more than careful if you are MARRIED (like Dapanz1 says... forget everything CR... no emails, phone numbers, and for God sakes NO PHOTOS), because you get caught and shit happens. It sucks, but that is life.

YO Legal Beagles:

Old Circus has phucked a number of gringa lawyers but it never made up for the phucking dinero it cost me by the same profession in courts. Lawyers are like politicians.....they have no conscience....hmm, come to think of it they are one of the same.

My first marriage ended when my wife found out that a former co-worker of hers gave me a blowjob 2 1/2 years before!
I got the call at 8AM on a Saturday. I was stationed in Turkey at the time.
8 years of marriage right down the tubes.

Some things I've learned in life:
Women keep EVERYTHING (cards, photos, emails, etc).
Women never forget anything.
ALL women talk eventually.
There is no statute of limitations on infidelity.
NEVER BELIEVE A WOMAN!
NEVER TRUST A WOMAN!

What do they call a tour bus full of divorce lawyers going off a cliff ?

A good start !

What is the definition of divorce ?

The phucking you get for the phucking you got !

A doctor, dentist, and divorce lawyer are stranded on a desert island. No food or water but a tropical paridise is 100 yards away accross the channel. They swim for it. The doctor and dentist are eaten by sharks but the lawyer makes it. Why ?

Professional courtesy !

What do divorce lawyers and catfish have in common?

They are both slimy bottom feeders !

Ba ta bum :D

Whats the difference between a lawyer and a catfish, one is a slimy low life scum sucking bottom feeder, the other one is a fish. Women, you cant live with-em..... and you cant live with-em.

Post subject:  An honest lawyer

If the situation were reversed... if the wife had betrayed her husband and spent the family money on her boytoy such that the husband decided to divorce his cheating wife... would it be fair for the husband to ask for half of the money that the wife spent on the boytoy?

Every state now has "no fault" divorce. Of course, "bad facts" (as we lawyers call them) even if they are technically irrelevant, have a way of sneaking into the proceedings, but the judge is basically going to try to split the "marital assets" down the middle. The "marital assets" are basically everything accumulated during the marriage.

Vegas Bob's warning is well-taken, but I suggest that this lawyer is doing for the soon-to-be-ex-wife exactly what you guys would want a lawyer to do for you... he is fighting for every penny to which she may have a right.

Lawyers are kind of like doctors who work with cancer patients; it is much better to NOT need a lawyer or a cancer doctor, but if you need one, you want one that will fight for you.

There are some... maybe only a few... honest lawyers out there.

Tanager

p.s. I actually like lawyer jokes, and I have met plenty of lawyers who deserve it.

Finally, a good and very sensible post on this subject! Way to go Tanager!

Another reason women are sided with is because men, in many cases, nearly or come close to abandoning their K*ds and all too often it is for another woman. If only we could face the facts - we men are beasts (if only I could figure out why we were programmed this way). We, ourselves, do some phucked up things in life and often what causes us to do these things is that we let our dicks guide us.

Until men start to fight for at least half custody instead of every other weekend, men will be forever on the losing end in court.

I've seen it first hand when men do take control, when they fight for the K*ds right from the start, the courts are even handed.

The courts, for the most part, are simply standing up for the Ch*ldren who are usually with their mother and haven't a voice, but too many men see this as the wife getting over on them.

Yeah, lawyers will try to get everything possible, but like Tanager said, wouldn't you want the same from your lawyer?
