RCB told me that the Cleanest bathrooms he's seen in San Jose are in the Casino down the hill and next to the Del Rey. For Nastiest, I'm going with Pensiones on Avenida 5. |

News Cafe cleanest (at least when I visited there. Nastiest? Name it. Molino Rojo's actual shitter, Arkada's "piss on the wall" set up, the BM late Saturday night, third bush from the left in Morazan Park... Happily, the little bathroom off the SL lobby has always been immaculate, every time I've used it. Zona Blue's bathroom is usually very clean also. I'm eager to read the list here. I'm sure others with better eyesight but poorer olfactory sense will have differing opinions.

YO Cali: RCB must be refering to the Colonial casino.....yea, not bad. except for giving out of hand paper towels. The Presidente as other good hotels seem to have fairly clean common restrooms. As for the dirtiest. Take your pick. Roadside cafes and bars in CR have some of the most filthy heads in CR. Beware, when you take your pecker out to pee....make sure no bugs, insects or crabs land on it. Doing # 2, forget it. I've seen so many (joints) with the toilet (and sink) removed that you have to piss in the undersize waste drain on the floor. Hope your aim is true or you splatter on your shoes. The old saying "Survey the bathroom prior to eating in that establishment" rings especially true in 3rd world countries. Hell, old Circus about starved to death rambling on road trips in CR and other countries. Don't even ask me about the lack of ass-wipe furnished. Shit, one has to revert to the use of their fingers like the nomads in India......gross. P.S. If any of you guys travel the country be sure to take along a roll of toilet paper......it's your sanitary condom for taking a shit. |

Zona Blue bathrooms ok, but if you really need to get that business taken care of while at Zona, a short walk down the hill to the Amon Plaza will do it. The bathroom right outside the casino and behind the elevators is nice and modern. Worst - Pantera Rosa bathroom is pretty bad. |

Colonial Casino does have the cleanest restrooms I have visited anywhere in San Jose. Presidente has nice restrooms but not on the level of Colonial. A lot of the low end local places are marginal though a few are not that bad. Tolilet seats are rare and a luxury available in few local places so be prepared for some cold porcelean and always wise to have a few napkins in you pocket going to local places.rbc100 |

Now that the Del Rey (Blue Marlin) restroom has been remolded, they have got to be up there. Not as nice as the Colonial but a step up from the Gran Hotel Costa Rica. Oh and the worst? - before the remodel, Del Rey was horrible. Next time your in Ecazu, check out the restrooms in Multiplaza. Kind of neat. LVSteve |

In the gulch think my vote for the cleanest would have to be the Colonial Casino. Worst might be the internet café/Laundromat in the arcade next to the Gran Hotel Costa Rica. In the central valley would have to vote the McDonald's in Sabana Sur since the remodel as the cleanest and the La Casona De Laly in Escazu as one of the worst. |

Zona Blue..........OK, but no paper towels. Gran Hotel [across from National Theater]...........Very nice restroom, but heat element in hand dryer has been bad for at least a year. New York Bar.........Fair. Blue Marlin............Good. I would rate the restrooms at the American fast food chains on Central Avenida as very good and well stocked. The poorest one I saw was at a roadside soda/mini-mart......as Circus had pointed out.........absolutely nothing in the room but a hole in the floor.

Panterea Rosa has a luxury bano compared to some of the more local tico bars. Often they even may have toilet paper. My memory is dull on beatle bar but beach regulars may have some to add. Molino Rojo is pretty bad and Arcadas not very good either as well as VIP's 1.rbc100 |

The Colonial Casino next to Hotel Del Rey has very clean bathrooms. I was in Limon & had to take a piss & OH MY GOD what a nasty bathroom they had in this restuarant!!  I even took picture of it with a big floater in the shitter. Let me know if you want me to post the photo.

Well I thought I'd seen everything on this board, now you guy are grading the crappers in SJO. What has CRT come to, is life that bad in the states?Thank God I'm here with better things on my mind than contributing to this thread. Ok I will contribute- the bano at Fogo Brasil was the first fully automatic bano I think I'd ever seen, the door opens automatically, commodes and urinals flush,soap,faucets and towels all dispense by sensors, you literally do not have to touch anything in the room, but you do still have to wipe your own ass.
