Post subject: | Single Use Cameras and the Dreaded X-Ray |
The last time I was in San Jose I made the great mistake of not bringing a camera to help immortalize my trip. No shots of the bustling downtown, lush courtyside, breathtaking vistas, or prostrate, sweating chicas...nope, not a one. This time a plan to remedy the situation by bringing several single use cameras to carry around with me. A question for those who know about these things, do I need to keep these cameras in some sort of film shield for the trip through the X-ray machine? I'd hate to have my vacation pictures ruined. Several factors here. Some people believe a camera with ASA400 film is good for up to two x ray machines. Some say more. I like to play it safe and send the camera thru on the tray and avoid the x rays. Or use a film shield bag which cost more than the camera. Those who encourage you to send your cameras thru x ray machines are airport security people who have no interest if your photos are fogged. |

Altho not a camera expert, I know that I lost several "photo memories" using single use camera, and have since taken the leap to the digital age. Cheap Kodak 3 megapixel cameras are under $100 now, so if it gets lost or stolen, no big deal. |

on one of my trips i brought disposable cameras, when i got to the airport i handed them over to security who ran them through a special xray machine. that was it. i suggest buying a digital camera. the hassle with film cameras now are not worth the trouble. i spent so much cash on disposable camera i could have bought a really nice one after the cost invovled in camera and film developing. plus a lot of times the pictures come out looking like crap. |
