I'm a big fan of Huey Lewis and the News. Has Huey Lewis and the News ever performed in CR or ever will in the future? Or have any of them been here just for tourism? |

Huey Lewis and the News, WTF??? About the only big name rock concert that I know of in Costa Rica was the Amnesty International show with Bruce Springsteen, Peter Gabriel, Sting, Tracy Chapman, and Youssou N'dour. That was sometime in the fall of 1988 I believe. I was a huge money loser, but the promoter thought it was important to spread the message of peace in Central America where there were brutal wars going on in Nicaragua, El Salvador, and Guatemala at the time. It is not profitable for American or European rock acts to air freight all their equipment to remote places like Central America where their will be little draw and low ticket prices. Therefore I’d have to believe that Huey has never performed down there. As for whether or not he has ever made a mongering trip to San Jose, that’s anybody’s guess. |

All I know is Tool better cancel the Philly show for May 18th and high tail it down to the Del Rey to put on a show. I can't believe I booked my innaguaral CR trip during the short tour. Tickets were selling for $1300 bucks on ebay the other day. Unbelievable! |

Having to listen to old rock n roll in all the bars, etc. in San Jose is bad enough... I can´t imagine going to see an aging ´Rock Star´ here. I never could understand traveling so many miles to a foreign country to spend time looking for "just like home"... Get out of the gulch, eat some gallo pinto and plantains, listen to latin music, have a girl show you the dance steps to a merengue or cumbia (it´s simple), ride the buses into the country side, go watch the K*ds play futbol in the streets, practice your spanish with an elderly tico,.... it´s a big wide world, enjoy all of it. |

Chi- You're showing your age (youth) again... "bigger than Sting"?... I didn't even recognize the names of any of the other performers. FYI... I tried to talk you into going to that gig. (BTY - my gang is booked again at the SL for the week after Labor Day - care to join us?). TimBones- Regarding your Bare Naked Ladies playing in your hotel room post....
