Chicago to Costa Rica $30!

I had two trips planned to the land of good and plenty, late August and Thanksgiving week. The other day I checked my AA Advantage Miles and tried to book a flight around my schedule but could not find any available flights. So I thought why not book another flight in June. I checked to see what was available, if anything, in June and found a great six-day schedule that I could book. Looks like I will back to Costa Rica sooner than I thought. I just sent out an email to Hotel Castillo and will have to give my boss the bad news tomorrow.

My next trip will be unlike any of my previous trips. I have no novia to worry about and will limit my drinking in Costa Rica. In fact, I am going on the wagon at the end of March and will also give up smoking until I land in Costa Rica. I will hit Oasis, Idem, and many of the other “joints” I’ve never had a chance to visit on previous trips.

I will also be spending time looking for an apartment in the $200 range, in a Tico neighborhood. Why you ask? Because I am thinking about pulling a Chi-Trekker and taking a leave of absence from work and spending the time off exploring everything Costa Rica has to offer, the right way. My work will allow me to take up to a year off depending on the situation. I have a very good “situation” that would allow for some time off. If all is possible, I will be spending my time volunteering, teaching English and most importantly, I will be looking into ways to make a living in Costa Rica for a possible long term stay.

Who knows what the future has in store for any of us… you only live once and only for a short period of time. I have no one dependant on me and I have one to worry about but myself. I have to seek out adventures in life.

Time is only temporary… don't know if my plans will work out but I'm making plans regardless.

Note to self…sell Brown Forman and RJM stock tomorrow…

Best of luck! The only thing I would add is a membership to a local gym… Remember the mantra…”a lean, mean, Phucking machine” If you loose two vices add a good one. :D

Mendo

Traylor Park - Sounds like a great game plan. Might as well do this exploring now, why put it off? Good luck, might be a challenge to balance the pro and non-pro worlds, as you have already discovered.

Not sure, but they sell AA miles so I would imagine you could just purchase them and go from there?
