As I was leaving San Jose last month I stopped at the Cafe Britt shop in the airport. I bought 2 bags of ground coffee and 3 bags of chocolate covered nuts. They were running a special and if you bought 5 items you got a 6th item free. Total cost was $30 ($5 per bag). On the Cafe Britt website they want $8.95 for the same bag of coffee plus another $8.95 for shipping. http://www.cafebritt.com/eStore/index.c ... 8&chkd=yes I believe the prices at Mas X Menos might be even cheaper than the airport store. |

Yeah, some members already posted that it's cheaper at mas x menos for cafe britt. I usually get my britts at the airport before departure as well. |

You can buy the bags of candy in grocery stores for around $4 and they are around $6 each at the airport. I imagine there are cheaper grocery stores outside the gulch. No matter where you buy it, it's very good candy. Is mas x menos a grocery store? |

You can buy the coffee and candy cheaper in the markets in San Jose but not so much cheaper that it outweighs the convenience of getting it at the airport. They usually run that buy 5 get 1 free which makes the price reasonable. If you do not want to buy that much then buy it at the super market in San Jose. |

Witling, Yes, I've noticed some pretty good specials at the airport...you just have to keep your eyes open. I usually buy fresh coffee in 1/2 kilo bags at Mercado Central for 1000 C. The MOKA COFFEE SHOP in the Mercado does a real nice job of packaging the coffee for flight (bagged, labeled and sealed in front of you). The airport shops are pretty convenient, though. They always come in handy for some last minute gifts at reasonable prices...especially liquor. |
