I was at Barnes and Noble today and found two good books on moving and/or planning your retirement to Costa Rica.

"Living Abroad in Costa Rica" Erin Var Rheenen

"Choose Costa Rica For Retirement" John Howells

Thought some of you guys might find this interesting... especially if you're thinking about making the move. I browsed through several books and found these two the best of the bunch.

Happy reading!!

You might also want to look into "Living and Retiring in Costa Rica" by Christopher Howard. Right now, its in its 20th edition. Howard has been living here for over 20 years.

I have "Living and retiring in Costa Rica". There is a lot of good info to use in there, but sometimes the books try to be too by the book so to speak. Residency: really not that important unless they shake up immigration, which it is looking like they won't. Also, and I'm not talking about breaking the law, there are Tico ways to get things done and the books always have a proper, longer, more complicated way. A lot of the general advice is good though on lawyers, doctors, embassy matters, etc.

I agree with C-Dude. I read John Howell's book last year, and I monitor their Bulletin Board. There's a wealth of info regarding moving, retiring, investing in CR. John Howells is the Admin for that BB, and he's in the process of writing another book. I've found some very useful info on that site. But it is far from a monger type BB.

And even DRIVING to CR!

The best way to search the site for say driving is to go to Google and type this in the search box:
