Does anyone have any info/rumors on the road project? When are they supposed to get started/finish? A friend and I are looking at property in Jaco and the realtors are saying the road construction has been approved. Has anybody heard that? Any thoughts on Jaco as a place to buy a condo? Thanks

I would take what the realtors tell you with a grain of salt.

The way things work here maybe in 10-20 years. Or maybe never.

To me Jaco is by far the worst of the beach towns. The only thing it has going for it is that it is the closest to San Jose.

Guanacaste is the "gold" coast. If you are looking to make some gold.

He could have told you that in 1996 and have been correct. This is most likely the longest running road construction project in recent world history.

I tend to agree with Zman that there are other areas of Costa Rica better suited to investment than Jaco. Do a lot of very careful research before deciding on an area to explore more fully.

Any tico can give you the answer to that question........"DECEMBER"

The problem with that answer??? ...... Nobody knows what YEAR that will be.

I hope we all can live long enough to see the ribbon cutting ceremony!

What we hate about CR is also what we love about CR. It cracks me up when I drive across the rickety patched together river bridges. In particular, the drive to Quepos where the rusty beams for the new bridge have layed for years. I love how they mark a cave in on a road in the country. If you are lucky, someone will mark it with a cardboard box or tree branches. Pura Vida...I wouldn't have it any other way. Trip number 12.....11 days and counting.

Be careful investing in one of those 25k down scheme around Jaco! They say 25k down now and you can make payments and then after payments are finished, we'll give you title.

Without title, they can sell the same lot to 20 other people with every one of you paying 25k down.

They'll multi-sell every lot there for 25k down. They have ways to make this scheme look good - they'll even built a few small developer owned houses and tell you that they are owned by investors.

After a few years, the operators of this scheme folds and leaves CR and you can't find them and you have no title.

NEVER BUY ANYTHING IN CR WITHOUT GETTING TITLE TO IT - NEVER NEVER NEVER!!!!!!
