Thou I agree in theory with what you are saying, I very strongly disagree with the " I would bet that less than 10% of HDR mongers are even aware of this site" statement!!! If there are 300 Mongers here every week (granted this may be a low #, but, living here this is what I believe to be a close estimate) of the year that amounts to 15600 mongers per year!! AND A LOT OF GUYS ARE HEAR SEVERAL TIMES PER YEAR which would reduce the # of different guys. Lets say I am way off and double that #= aproximately 30000 mongers. And yes I know a lot of guys come here 1 or 2 times and never come back and they are also the ones screwing things up the most. There are also a lot of guys that are very aware of CRT, but for one reason or other, choose not to be a member nor use the site. (Dumb asses in my humble opinion)

All these factors included, I really think that with over 13000 registered users, well over 50% of the mongers coming here are well aware of CRT and most of those have taken advantage of at least some of the info available here.

Right or wrong the above is just my opinion, but NO WAY WILL I EVER BELIEVE IT IS ONLY 10%

BB57, I used to think like you think, then I started talking to the guys I didn't recognize in the DR. Many are not even American. I met Italians and Germans and Japanese...none had heard of CRT. There were bachelor parties, completely unaware and fishermen without a clue. Outside of the guys I knew from SL and ZB, the vast majority had not heard of CRT.

Granted my sampling was small, but I was surprised by the number of guys who are in CR because they know a guy or are a member of an unassociated group.

Pac55,

As I said, I am well aware of a lot of guys that are totally unaware of CRT. BUT, I am here all the time, am in the REY (where most of the guys unaware of CRT spend most of their time) several times per week, I AM A BIG TALKER (in case you haven't noticed) and I almost always ask if they are aware of CRT and the advantages it offers us CR Mongers. I actually meet realitively few who are not aware of CRT.

Again, right or wrong I take exception with the 10% statement. 50%, I would except, thou I feel it is closer to 70% that are aware of CRT. IMHO

I did a small sample too & I would also say less than 10%.

Yeap, I can agree to right around 10 percent know about CRT. This is why I get my underwear all in knots when we talk on here about how to treat a chica and establishing a code of ethics - few would know of the code.

CRT can't change anything in CR.... maybe at the SL and ZB, but those are the only places (imo).

Ok guys come’ on lets don't be a bunch of whiners around here lets do something about CIEN that WE CAN CONTROL  :) ! Learn to communicate or other wise we are like CAVE MEN  8) :P !! Not bad being a cave man with a BIG CLUB in La Cama where all we have to do is make assorted grunts but..... whispering sweet nothings can be better  ....

Here are the types of Gringos I run into.

#1 the old fart getting older  :) ! His approach is hell fuucck that shit I have the $$ & they have to just put up with me. I ain't doing that, it is too hard & takes too much time. I rather be slamming suds with my buds cause I feel invincible & much better than every body this way. Doors just get slammed in this guys face while his pocket book is fleaced so back to more suds & sudsy buds. 80% seem to be like this  .

#2 is the progressive Gringo that says wow I like the challenge & it is sexy watching the people speak with this musical tone :) . This guy appears much younger by his positive outlook. He meets more people in classes & practicing his Spanish around the country. The natives love his effort & enjoy his mistakes with much laughter for all. Many more doors open for this Gringo than the closed minded one. One by one this guy has far more options than Gringo #1.

He has grown far more confident & has learned how much he can get without even saying much now that he understands them. So even with silence & a nice smile he gets far more for far less. 20% seem to be like this :D !

I like Gringo #2 much better :) !

Cien does not worry me :) ....

There is something(s) different about Costa Rica that allows for more of the #1 Zippy describes.

Most places, by their nature or perceived nature, weed out the idiot gringos, they wont go or they wont come back, there numbers are generally limited. Except on Cruise ships or in all inclusive type resorts.

Asia, too far, too culturally different, language problems, Colombia, they are too afraid, Guatemala they are afraid of the water, food, transportation, Mexico they can't operate outside of a tourist trap area, but somehow Costa Rica sends messages to these idiots that its for them...so a higher number go/come to CR. Lack of military, perceived safety, Im not sure what it all is, but it brings in the idiots and indiscrete big spender that will buy a beach lot over the internet with 6 days in country max.

Guess its like so many other stories in so many other places, it used to be great and now its still very nice but not like it was.

John you make some good points here.Costa Rica is very user friendly and that's why so many guys flock down there. In Mexico(especially cities like Monterrey and Guadalajara) if you can't speak a fair amount of Spanish it's not worth a visit.I think Colombia is probably the same in that regard. For me cien is not out of my budget but if the price goes any higher the value goes out of Costa Rica.

Thats the beauty of knowledge of the language and local hang outs. Places like the Del Rey cater to less experienced mongers. A bunch of guys who know nothing about the area or language can hop off of a plane and head over to the Del Rey and be guarunteed a good time. So what if they are paying $100-$200 for ST.

Guys who know the area and/or speak the language have options that just aren't availible to the "I come here once in a lifetime" crowd. From tico places, to better negotiation skills, to even picking up the occasional non-pro. Knowledge has value and ignorance has a cost.
