maybe some of them think the company they are providing is a
service and don't like to read here ,as many do, that they are selling their
souls as one guy seems to write.

our culture affects us and theirs affects them.

IMHO, once again, poverty here in CR is due in a GIANT degree to the high birth rate.

For the record, CR actually has a relatively low birth rate for Latin America.

Birth rate
Argentina 18.2
Brazil 18.1
Chile 16.5
Colombia 22.0
Costa Rica 19.8
DR 24.4
El Salvador 28.3
Ecuador 25.5
Guatemala 34.4 (time bomb!)
Honduras 31.2
Mexico 22.2
Nicaragua 27.0
Panama 18.6
Peru 23.4
Uruguay 17.2
Venezuela 20.2

We also have one of the lowest poverty rates in Latin America. The biggest problem we have is that we are leaving behind the poorest quintile of the population: less educated, lower income growth rate, lower life expectancy. CR has taken pride in not leaving its poor behind, but in the last twenty years this has not been the case.

Interesting figures. Can you put them into a proper context?

Do they represent the number of live births per 100 age-bearing women or 1000 or 10000?
Are they the number of births that survive after age 5?
Are they the average age of the girl giving birth?
Are they the number of family members who live off the earnings of each "working" girl?

Sorry guys, but of the 2 HDR chicas that I have been to the homes of, and met the extended familys of, there was no shame.
The first, at her son's birthdat party, was showing nude pictures of herself in my camera, to relatives.
The other would share stories of her exploits like it was a game of sports.
Being a successful HDR chica is very far up the totem pole for an average working girl in Latin America. I think a lot of them are proud of that fact.
Seeing where they came from, and knowing where they would be without the HDR, believe me, there is not as much stigma as some would have you believe.

That is a reach, maybe in Costa Rica it is viewed as being up on the totem pole, but not in colombia. many of the girls are very very careful what time they leave, so that the neighbors do not see them coming home etc...

Still think there is stigma, even in CR, I met a hot college Girl near the university of CR a couple years back. She would not even go near the pink palace, or the KL, for fear of a neighbor or family driving by and seeing her walking near the pink palace.

Remember, the two girls referenced above are Pro's.

What's the deal with Gringos marrying Ticas and then taking them back to the states only to keep them locked up like animals?

This Tica (34) I know who has never "worked" and was finally tired of Ticos decided she should try the dating agencies. She went to a couple of parties held at Hotel Castillo and met a Gringo who wined and dined her over several trips. She thought she found a nice Gringo and decided to marry him.

They get married and she moves to the US only to find out he is very tight with his money. He promised her she could work but did not tell her that she would be working for his company and he had no plans on paying her for her time. She worked and kept hoping to see a pay day so she could send money back for her daughter but she never saw a penny. After several months she informed him she wanted to go back home to visit her daughter so he bought her a roundtrip ticket and sent her home with no money. She did not tell him that the plan was for her not to return. After a few weeks the Gringo calls her crying for her to come back home, even has his mother call her. After several phone calls convinced her that he would change she decides to give it another shot. She flies back to the US only to discover nothing was ever going to change. After two months she flies back home and again, he sends her back with no money.

The chica is back home with no money and no real home to call her own. She is staying at friends and families homes until she can get back on her feet. The good news is she has found a job after two weeks, an honest job she can live with. She could have easily went to "work" in the gulch but she can not never imagine "working." Said, her mother raised five K*ds and they never went without one good meal a day. My mother did it with five K*ds and i can do it by myself. The daughter lives with her ex and she doesn't have to worry about her ever going hungry.

What's a chica to do with these Gringos?

It's has to be tough being a Tica.

TP,

Moral of this story too me is one only gets involved in serious relationships with good people that are givers & not takers. Both parties have to really be in love for it to last & not be selfish like so many men & women are. This is why you need time to sort out what is real & what is an act. Only time & situations will test this enough to know the truth.

Problem with most foreign relationships is it is like a den of thieves. Everyone doesn't trust the other party because of where they met hence many times they try to beat each other to the punch on who will use who first. Never lasts long is all I can say.

The best relationships I have ever had & best sex where with women that it took quite some time to seduce. They where worth the time & it made it that much better when it finally happened. I guess I see women as 2 types the dating type & the quick pickup phuck type & never really try to merge the two.

It's heartbreakin' that so many chicas have no other options but to sell their bodies in order to support themselves.

Looking back on this thread it makes one realize how truly different another culture can be. It seems people view many things different according to how we were raised. Example look at the hot bed of the world in Iraq. They view life & death & the meaning of life totally different than us.

I believe we tend to view these Latinas as suffering much more than they do. It is normal for us since we have been brainwashed this way very early on. Any woman is going to tell us they do not like being a puta because they want to appear normal so we can be the one that might support them. What woman in their right mind is going to say I love being a whore even if she truly does :? ?

One example I will use is several trips back these very non-pro type Ticas said you speak both Languages right? Well they needed help brokering a deal on a 3 day trip with some Gringos & needed my help. I told them the truth that I thought these guys were very nice men & they would have fun I bet without any trouble. I saw them a week later & they were so excited to see me & told me I was right & they had a terrific time. They were not embarrassed at all about telling me many details. It was like this is fun & we got paid well. I saw & felt no regrets on their part. They did not push at me or even ask if I wanted company with them but I was playing cards when they came over. Like I said this is a sign of a very non pro type Tica. They still stay to the culture where they men have to do the asking first.

The thing I find interesting is no embarrassment at all on their part. I have had other dealings very similar to this but I have seen a minority that do not feel that good about what they are doing. Someone else in another thread joked about the fact that the Chicas were issued a badge & had to wear it in the Presidente. This was like a Puta badge & they do not seem embarrased by it  . All in all I feel they handle this much better than guilt riddled puritan society like ours where the drubbing & brain washing take roots very early in our lives. All one needs to remember is this is a chosen path of greatest returns with least time spent for those returns & it is legal. So it is understandable why many are not so ashamed of it all.

I would agree with Zippy that there is much less stigma attached to being a prostitute in Costa Rica compared to North America. However, even if family and friends accept what she does as okay, that doesn't mean she doesn't feel some inner shame or disgust or whatever.

Imagine the rent is due and the only interested customer in sight is some smelly, obnoxious, old, fat gringo (no, I don't mean ME!). The girl bites the bullet and says ok and the guy asks how much, she says $100, he counter offers $30. She comes back with $60, he says $40 and won't budge from there. She reluctantly agrees and when she gets to the room he wants to put her through paces like a trained seal. When it's all over, she leaves (without propina, after all, she wasn't a GFE and wouldn't do anal bareback). Is this girl going to be feeling warm and fuzzy about what she does for a living?

Misery is indeed relative. I think none of us would be satisfied with the living conditions of the average king in the middle ages. The girls may feel fortunate to be making more money than their ugly sisters but when they see how gringos can throw money around, I think most of them feel pretty natural envy.

They don't feel as much shame as a gringa would, but it's a mistake to think they are immune to negative feelings about their lots in life.

Agree with every word of this...I find it silly when guys somehow believe that being a prostitute somehow innoculates you from feelings of shame and discust, that a true "pro" can totally detach herself from her feelings 100% of the time..If THIS is what constitutes a true pro, very few of the girls really are....

On to the basic topic, I think the bottom line for me is this: Yes, it is posible to have a relationship with a prostitute/ex prostitute; and yes, it is posible to have a relationship with a women two to three generations younger than yourself; and yes, it is posible to have a relationship with somone from another cutlture; however, take each of these variables and add them to the already, often, seemingly imposible task of a relationship, and that is a lot of extra baggage to overcome...

Yes, I would like to add one more; it is possible for the scorpion not to sting the frog while he carries it across the river, but the odds are against it as it is against the scorpion’s nature.

Basically, the vast majority of the Debs are soft con artists as, without adding needless detail, it is part of their job to convince you that you are desirable. And they will go for the long or short con depending on what they think will be more lucrative. Know that going in, get what you want and give them what you promised them and a little more if they deserve it, but if you expect any more, you are fooling yourself.

The whole discussion about how poor they are is once again, a false argument, as there are a lot of poor people that never turn to selling their bodies, just as there are a lot of poor people that don't commit robbery.

Basically, the CR is still a developing county, as the US once and some North America women during that time choose to be prostitutes, since about the fifties or sixties (arguably) there has not been the economic need to do so. The issue driving prostitution in the states now is abnormal behavior, i.e. drug use. In the CR, it is an easy, albeit immoral, way to make a lot of money (relatively speaking).

I think we have the same discussions over and over because a lot of guys simply want to wear those rose colored glasses and take the easy road. They seem to want to spend a lot of time and emotion on women that are just there for their money.

Insane is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. Yet for the last year, I have read about lots of guys, getting into supposed relationships with Del Ray Debutantes and always getting the same results; that is getting taken for bucks, lied to and having their emotions played with. In the end there has not been one story on here that has ended differently. Sometimes I think these guys are just after the drama: shock:

Still and all, if you want a real relationship with a Tica, they are out there, but it is a lot more work (less than a similar gringa however) and your results may vary.

As always, I could be wrong, but in this case, I doubt it.
