Doesn't bill make you want to wait for a plan where, as Namcy Pelosi said, 'Find out whats in the bill'?
That was another point I wanted to state Tex until this site cut me off. There has been a lot of misinformation about this bill. Myself and two colleagues each read all 2741 pages to see what was in it.
To highlight:
There are no death panels but there are life panels so a person can discuss options with their Doctor and families and bill the Doc for their advice
Insurance companies will not be able to deny any person coverage based on a pre-existing condition.
If you are over 35 years old, you have a 98.2% chance of having a pre-existing condition according to JAMA 2008 May editionA young person will be able to stay on their parent’s health plan until 26 years old if needed
Insurance companies will not be able to raise rates without showing cause. (Anthem Blue Cross just raises rates in California by as much as 39% last month)
There will be a mandate to buy health insurance for everyone (like we have to buy Car insurance).
I used to work in an inner city ER many they’re had no insurance or were too lazy to go get on Medicaid. And we folks that have health insurance pay the priceMedicare will not be cut just improved so I will not have to file my patients Medicare claims through Cigna or other insurance companies that take a cut out of filing the claims to the government. That will stop and those savings will lower cost
This bill once signed into law will be deficit neutral (meaning it’s paid for) and will cut the deficit by at least 1 trillion bucks the first 10 years. (Keep in mind that these savings after streamlining this and other processes in this bill cannot be scored since no one can know what the savings will be by just doing common sense things!!!) And a lot of the bill is common sense like making sure an insurance company reports to subscribers why they are raising rates
There will be 2 different tax cuts for small businesses that offer insurance to employers.
There will be an exchange where people will be able to compare plans like members of Congress have
This is a tricky one the President lays out. (He states many times “If you like your Doctor you can keep your Doctor, if you like your plan you can keep your planâ€)
True if you pay for your own insurance but if you get your insurance from your job and your employers finds a better plan in this new exchange you and your family may have to find other Doctors if they are not in the new plans network. I could add more but if you have any questions PM me and I will try to answer. This Bill is not perfect but a start that can be fixed in the future. Until someone comes upon with a better idea that can pass Congress I say pass it to help our people!
