I'm here. I'm going to be in town from Jan 6th to Jan 12th. It is my intent to get this nailed down during that time.

Anyone that speaks Spanish, and is available to help it would be appreciated.

I went to the Orphanage today. It is run partially by the government and partially by the Roman Catholic Church and they rely heavily upon donations for assistance. It is approximately 10 miles east of downtown, in a rural setting with cows and open pastures surrounding the compound which houses at this time 60 Ch*ldren.

The K*ds range in age from four months to approximately 16 years. Some of the K*ds have special needs based on traumatic lives they have lived. For example, one indigenous Ch*ld named Alejandro had been beaten so much that he has a huge knot on his forehead. Although he is non-verbal he is nevertheless a very “chispa” K*D (he has a spark of life).

The Director is Lil Chavez, a very pleasant young woman. The Administrator works at the orphanage as well as a car rental place, and was not there at the time of my visit.

Directora Lil said that they have need of so many things such as sweaters, toys, shoes, sox, tooth paste, hair brushes, sheets, blankets, pillows, and just about anything you can imagine that a K*D needs.

Lil did not know specific needs such as how many, what sizes, which gender, etc. She will call me on Monday when the Administrator comes in so we can get together and perhaps get the particulars on the greatest needs.

If any of you are coming down before I get specifics, and would you would like to bring something, please do so because I am sure that they will be able to use what you bring.

I also asked her if they have a bank account which can receive monetary donations and she said they could provide that information in case any of you want to give money instead of things.

If any of you are in CR and want to go with me to the orphanage on Monday, shoot me a message and we will try to work it out.

Santas Bro – Do we have permission to put a “toys for tots” or collection box in at SL?

All the best!

Diego Cazador

You are right Nhank. These K*ds live in very humble surroundings. Small gifts bring them real joy. It isn't much to us but it is the world to them.

Of course you can, as long as the SL is O.K. with it. No one needs any permission from me to help the K*ds. I am like all, just a cog in the wheel. I'm not sure about monetary donations though. I don't think that we would have very good control, or accounting for the funds.

Thank you for looking into this. I think that we met the lady from the car rental place when we were last at the "orphanage" by the SL. If it is the same lady she is doing great work. She was looking into starting another home for a few other dis-advantaged Ch*ldren. I would really like to help her. Anyone that has donated, either respond to this thread, or PM me if you do not think helping his lady is what you want some your donation to support.

I have been in contact with a local, and we are going to the "orphanage" by the SL, when I am down in January. Part of the problem (delay) has been a lack of language interpretation (where are you Jadcujo  ). The last time we met with the local Administrator, they wanted $45,000.00 to do a TI on an old school building that they own, so that they could use it as a rental for the hospital. With the person I will go with this time, we should be able to get this all nailed down.

Any input by any members of CRT would be greatly appreciated with what you would like to see done.

I apologize for the year long delay. Again, should anyone that has donated wish their donation back, please PM me with the name used for PayPal and the amount, and I will send you a check from my account.

I am sadden and embarrassed by those who think of me as a rip-off artist, but in the end when the K*ds get the benefit of your generosity my feelings will be of joy. All good things take time.

Happy holidays to all...

Steve - Santas Bro

Steve anyone who thinks that is an idiot, I just asked because just wasn't sure if I was to keep sending donations or not, sometime taking on things like this is a lot more work tha people think. If you say it's still a go I'll continue.

Thanks and Merry Christmas Dude!

I will try to get down to SL today and ask if we can put a Juguetes para los Niños box in so our brethren can bring stuff.

If anyone wants to see photos of the orphanage I can take some and email them to you or post them -

Too bad no one thought of it earlier, like say at least by Thanksgiving weekend. There is not a lot of time left this year with less than a week to go before Christmas. However this could be a nice idea for an ongoing or annual program for next year and years going forward. I'd also like to know if the box would be located in a place where the passing SL girls could dip into it on their way out for free gifts for their K*ds or the toys will really be dedicated to the orphans we've been talking about.

In March, I created a webpage for the donations, but I just found out that my ISP RoadRunner (Time Warner Cable blows) migrated all their regional home pages into a national server.

I'm working on getting it back as soon as possible. Sorry about this, I was never told until I tried to access it today. I will post the new URL when it is up.

Here is a working URL: http://home.roadrunner.com/~orange/crthelps

There is a DONATE button there. Click on it and it will take you to a Paypal account we set up for this cause. You don't need to be a Paypal member to donate.

Enter donation amount and click the "Update Total" button. Then, if you are a Paypal member log in and submit it. If not, you will see this towards the bottom of the page. Click "Continue" and submit it that way:

Don't have a PayPal account?
Use your credit card or bank account (where available). Continue

Thanks again for helping out.

Thanks much to Orange for his excellent work.

I think that I have changed the pages to the new address. Besides being old, I am computer challenged. Hopefully it will work, it did when i tried it. If not, please let me know.

It is my intent to finally get this happening on my January trip. I appreciate the patience of all.

Happy Holidays....
