Left Castillo via Uber at 11:00 am today for the airport and the driver took me a far different route per Waze. We were on the main autopista and she decided it would be quicker through Alajuela, which at the time, the autopista was moving with very light traffic (none). I thought, here i go again with a rogue driver, turn here left here, drive through a village, do a uturn almost, right here blah blah....every few miles i would still see a sign for the airport so we weresomewhat in track.

We get to the northside of the airport and voila, traffic was a mess! I knew where i was if i needed to walk, but fortunately we missed 95% of the traffic.

Hundreds of people were walking with flags and signs, but peaceful. The actual veer to the airport was very light. I made it with only 20 min longer trip vs normal so thank god for Waze. A few times the driver asked me where to turn! She saw my befuddled look then just stuck with Waze. Flight was at 1:30 so i was at the gate by 12:20 with time to spare.

Left Monday Morning Sept 24, took UBER, traffic was backed up towards the airport just beyond the toll booth, they were walking away from the airport, traffic was a mess. The UBER driver told me not to say he was Uber if they stopped us. Made it to the airport but I left 3 hours early. I let a couple of people jump in front of me at the Immigration line leaving just before the security checkpoint, as they were late for their flights.
On Friday the Sept 21st took a cab over to the San Pedro Mall there was a protest and road block there,,, the cab driver was pissed off. He said the strikes were killing the tourist business.

I was told there was an APP that would tell you about an hour before where the road blocks were going to be.
Sorry if I repeated any info.

The CR media is your best source. The public unions have declared that talks with the government are a failure / over.

Practically? For mongers? No real impact unless you are traveling and run into a roadblock (delay) or are too obtuse to notice a street demonstration.

Came to Guanacaste yesterday. There was a 10 minute delay at one of the bridges because of protesters. San Jose had a protest the other day on the main avenue and it took me 10 minutes longer to get to one of the pensiones. Don’t worry about it. Come on down.
