Well, well.....I guess the Diario Extra is on the rumor bandwagon as well. http://www.diarioextra.com/Dnew/noticiaDetalle/249995 . This hit the paper today. I was dropping a guy off at Zona II yesterday when the Municipality of San Jose and Diaro Extra newspaper was there, taking pictures and asking questions. Hate to hear it. I really feel sorry for those employees who have not received any money since October and Ch*ldren who had a poor Xmas. I have owned and ran a few companies in my day and the 1st rule is, PAY YOUR HELP FIRST! People need to do the right thing. The article says that the company changes names to avoid paying taxes. Also, if you notice, Scores is no longer a CRT advertiser. Jeff is going to need some luck in this one. The Ministry of Labor take this issue very seriously, especially with expats.

So, according to the article, it looks like he's joined Boyd on the Greater Zona Fugitive List. Pretty pathetic.

It would be difficult for Jeff to hide ANYWHERE

Let's hope for the best for him and the new partnership - - - - so that we have the choices that ScoreS has provided to us.

Let's not take the article at face value. There was no cite for the 'inspectors'. It is clearly spun as a sympathy piece for the workers (which it should be), but it doesn't support the statement that he is 'hiding'. It simply suggests that he wasn't there when they arrived to interview him.

Let's wait and see what transpires around the 21st.

What I could never understand is why somebody who doesn't get paid 1 week and then a second week and yet continue working for weeks and months FOR FREE thinking something will change. And this is always in dead-end jobs where leaving doesn't really cost you anything.

you need to see things from the perspective of someone that lives hand-to-mouth. The *hope* that they will get paid is tangible against the alternative of quitting and *hoping* to find other work. You have to have existed like that to understand the mentality. It isn't always about "knowing what's best".

I get that, but if they are not getting paid, how are they surviving, paying rent, buying food?

In the case of a lot of San Jose gringo businesses ...the oversight is so poorly enacted that they (the people that handle the money) can steal much more money than they could ever earn...witness, Scores, Mona Lisa, Del Rey, Poas and others where you rarely get a receipt...thus if there are no dupes how could management know what the heck is going on....

From the newspaper article it seems the 10 employees have been left in a really bad state because they were not paid for 3 months.
I have stayed at Scores since Boyd took it over and have always been happy with the service and help especially provided by Jenny and Paola, the cooking of the Colombian twins and the security guys. The bartenders too were friendly even though I never spent much time in the bar.
I would be more than happy to contribute to a fund to provide these 10 employees with a cash sum to help them in this difficult time of need.
If some brother or brothers there at ground zero can undertake to collect the contributions of the members and hand it over to these employees I would be quite happy to donate CIEN in this good cause.
If this suggestion is practical and there are no legal issues against it I suggest that if known brothers of known high integrity will agree to take time out of their busy activities to oversee it, it can be a really worthwhile cause.
People who come to mind are admin 3, Bill, Matt, jimmy, Sid, Steve.

Isra123,
Great idea, I was going to suggest something similar. I'm thinking about K*ds having to go thru Christmas without a gift, that's something that a young K*D should never have to experience. They don't undertsand what "we don't have money" has to do with it.

The guys on this board are some of the most generous people that I have ever met. We have collected for various causes a few times; for the orphanage, for BangBang's eye surgery, and for the CR earthquake victims. The donation collection is the easy part, Paypal is great for this. We still have the Paypal account we used. But the logistics of distributing the funds would seem complicated. Who are the 10 employees? For some reason, I expect that as soon as word goes out about this, 10 will be 20.

I will be in CR in exactly 3 weeks, I would be glad to help facilitate this, if everybody is cool with it.

I will kick in Cien CRT brother Isra. That $200. Anyone giving cash in the C.R. area, I will personally paypal it to Orange. I think we have a good idea who was working over there.

I would start with whomever signed onto the official complaint. But because there may be an official investigation, we should tread softly.

I'll be in town in a couple of days. I'll see what I can find out.

Bashful, with all due respect, I have been in town for 9 years. I know who worked there and have known about this since the beginning of Nov. If someone wants to contribute, let's get the ball rolling. Tread softly to give? I think not. Not really a need to wait for you to get into town and do your investigation. Again, with all due respect.

. I suggest starting a new thread on this and if it's PayPal or whatever put the details there so others can pitch in.
