Think that statement is a bit overboard based on the information posted in this thread. I only obvious thing I find is the original, which was second hand, and secondary post by the individual involved are dubious at best.

It appears that I am in the minority here,but I TOTALLY BELIEVE HIM. He has no reason to lie to us. He doesn't even want to be a member here because of his fear of his wife finding the website and nailing him again. His ONLY reason for telling me the story was for me to warn other guys in his situation. So be dubious as much as you want BUT be careful at the DR because I know that security writes down chicas names and visa numbers. That's enough of a problem in itself to be of concern to married guys. It is difficult to believe this one. Wifey gathers all of this intel from possibly corrupt Del Rey folks, CIA and/or US Immigration and/or CR Immigration and totally busts husband and yet she lets him go back to CR on another trip. The HDR might send a copy of your itemized statement upon request, but I'd have to see hard evidence to believe they would have furnished names of chicas who visited a room.

I've actually had the desk clerks at the SL lie for me and tell my wife, when she called while I had a chica in my room that they saw me leaving the hotel and wasn't in my room. Then, later when the chica and I walked through the lobby, the desk clerk discretely called me over and told me that my wife was trying to reach me and why the call wasn't put through to my room. The clerk was actually almost apologetic, wanting to make sure that I wasn't angry the call wasn't put through when it came in.

La policias might be able to wheedle some information out of the desk clerk or security guard, but I'll bet someone would have to pay some pretty good mordida in order to get any details out of the hotel staff, and I don't know how you'd do that over the phone from the U.S.

Not sure what's so hard to believe, even if VegasBob is a full-of-shit philandering degenerate (lucky for me he never looks back at threads after he starts them ) he has no reason to post BS and has vouched for his friend. Ok I don't buy that the HDR provided all the info so the simplest explanation is that wifey hired a PI. Someone mentioned DougPI, he was slammed on here for advertising on a "cheating husband" forum years ago. Even Cody Gear, who has been recommended by members has a cheating spouse section on his site- "Is Your husband or boyfriend coming to Costa Rica to Fish or to Cheat?" The scene in CR is small and if you're hanging out in the typical places, especially the HDR it must be so easy for these guys to find and observe you. Regarding the conversation with the security guy- I'd guess the PI was right there within earshot listening to them. The list of chicas taken to the room- surely 100 bucks would get that info from the guy taking names at the elevator or another employee with access to it. The chicas fotos- either the passport/cedula fotos also came from HDR (if they make copies & keep that info), PI was able to get fotos using their passport #s, or her brother's friend in immigration actually did get them.

Any PI worth his salt could pull this off. Especially with a suspicious wife on a doctor's salary paying the bill, cha-ching!

For shits and giggles, I just spoke to a buddy who is a fairly high up in ICE, and he his verdict? 100% bullshit that the wife would have been able to receive the photos in that manner. The only way that she could have photos of the chicas if the DR photographs Passports of the chicas.

That is the part of the story that fell apart very quickly. When some questioned the CIA part he realized that was really stretching it and quickly changed to immigration to make it fly.

The funny part is that while I doubted any CIA employee would participate I never doubted the CIA could tap into CR government files illicitly and get the pictures. I doubt immigration, which is really ICE, has that ability except at the highest levels. Anyone that high up in the food chain would never give wifey pictures.

I agree. Assuming that the HDR photocopies the passports of chica visitors, this seems to be the work of somebody who bribed an employee or two at the HDR. The immigration story could just be a lie on her part so that she can catch him redhanded again.

Advice to Bob's friend: Better get ready for divorce court.

Advice to married guys who don't want to get caught: Don't stay at a hotel that is well known to be little more than a brothel. Saving a dollar or two in cab rides to La Amistad or the Dunn Inn will pale in comparison to the divorce settlement.

My two cents worth of thought.
First if the hotel writes down the ladies name and ID number ( as I remember the hotels doing that every where I have stayed), if you where able to get that list and had a person in the inside of the Immigration service ( or a friend or has authority), the photographs of the ladies are very easy obtainable.
All the Immigration agent would have to do is just add those names and ID numbers to a request to the Costa Rica government for confirmation of identification for what ever reason, like illegal entry. All he has to do is just claim some one in custody or under investigation has used that name and number and they need a photo for proof. Bingo the photo comes back, not the person under investigation, so the document is then destroyed , but misses the shedder and ends up by “mistake” in some one’s lunch box.
The CR government would keep a second photo for there records just for this type of purpose, confirming the correct id of a foreign person or criminal attempting to use a altered id . Also just like our DMV do for those who are confined to the USA.
The pictures can be obtained with out much effort by some one at the right level and they could have covered there tracks very easy if they thought ahead just a little. But they still broke one hell of a lot of laws . AND have opened them self’s up to
1) being fired
2) Criminal prosecution
3) Civil financial responsibly ( and if the GOV does not do 1 and 2 they will after this hits the court room when boss have to come and testify on why he/her was allowed to do this as a normal job duty- supply individuals with confidential documents.

So it could have been done. Next is how they got the list, dammed if I know with out some one on the ground in CR

I just got done with my yearly signing my forms about doing the same type of thing, next week I have to prove the destruction of all paper work to prevent this type of thing. For me they review all my requests and file look at's just to make sure I am not "browsing " for information
