Are we not talking about working chicas? Funny logic from the ones who know the "real" Costa Rica...

My last great love was a prostitute in Costa Rica. I loved her with all my heart, and she liked me OK most of the time. She was extremely good looking, although amazingly she was like 35, I thought she was 25. God what a body! Whether she had a lot of money or not, I don't know, though I doubt it. She had money just after a guy would hand her $50 or $100, or $7, which was her normal fee. She complained about my snoring, and I have looked at the pictures which I asked her to take of me, and I see that I am an overweight (fat), older (old), gringo, and her reality was that she had to be with me. It could have been worse, but that was, looking back, definitely not good. I miss her though. Or I miss the illusion of what I thought we had. One time she told me what she really thought of her particular line of work, and it made me sad to hear. The distinguishing characteristic of people like me, is that to experience these women without knowing what there world is like, would have no value.

Working girls are a part of the real Costa Rica, if that's your point. You seem to want to think a girl must be ugly or foolish not to make a bundle selling her body. Don't tell me it's all about fantasy then tell me you are talking about reality. If your fantasy requires that you deny poverty among prostitutes, then deny it. Take the Los Guidos bus up into the slums of Desamparados then maybe we can talk.

I'm just asking how is it possible? Don't get upset, it's nothing personal. If a chica is pretty decent looking, and goes to the DR, how can they not at least pull $60- $75 on any given night?

Any thread on this board that ever shows any compassion for the chicas will get flamed. When you talk about money management as far as the chicas, do you ever consider the fact that most of these girls support Bebes, extended families, babysitters ect? Most of these girls would not be p4p if all they used the money for was self gratification.

Their bebes and extended families must have already eaten when they go buy the latest camera phone. Maybe if they bought last year's model, they would have $20 in their purse to eat or get home.

Because on any given night there are always more working women than men with money. Take a look at the average HDR male crowd. Of every ten guys, three spent the day in the MPs and are just there to BS with their buds, two just finished and won't go again tonight, two more are Ticos who don't have the bread that leaves three who may take a girl and two of them are really drunk.

More girls leave the HDR with nothing than make money. At the SL, some girls work every day but many catch a guy occasionally, maybe three a week. A lot of girls come in for a little while then leave alone almost every night. Like anything else, a few make a good living and most just squeak by.

Sorry if I get emotional about this. What Pac55 says is true. I was in the Rey last Thursday night. At about 10 pm, I counted a ratio of about 2 to 1 girls to men, and as Pac55 says, not every guy sitting in the bar will actually take somebody. A little math will show that even at $100 per leche (male), the per capita income won't be very impressive. And median income will be much lower, I strongly believe. I suspect there are many nights where more than half the girls go without a hit, which makes the median income 0.

Since when does Las Vegas not represent the real USA? There is no more All American city than Las Vegas.

I only know from what I read but couldn't agree more with MrLasVegas--Las Vegas is the USA in a microcosm, both good and bad, To understand the US you must come to terms with Las Vegas. I'm not being snide or smartass here.

The idea of Vegas couldn't be more fantasy....but I will concur that.....the reality of Vegas couldn't be more real

This is true everywhere, not just in CR. We're in a buyer's market for chicas these days.

They know it. They all complain about the lack of (potential) customers. The subject of why (many) girls don't lower their asking price to undercut their competition is worthy of a whole thread in itself. When I get bored or inspired I may try a shot at it.

The problem is that they see their "price" as a judgment of their worth. If she takes less, she is ipso facto saying that she is worth less and that just don't sit too well with her psyche. The problem is compounded if she thinks that others will know she took less.

A good negocio technique is to bargain with her on what price you will say you paid, then work on the actual price. If you become co-conspirators in keeping her perceived value high you can get a better deal.
