I would have never experienced the travels of what I now know to be, seen the places I’ve been, and met the friends that I have met and still to this day stay in contact with had it not been for a non-descript website that with a simple text search of - Costa Rica - landed me into Don Gordo’s world of Fun & Adventure.

How easy it was back then to be dropped from this cyber network at play to be directed right to the center source of what all was happening in a world that I never knew. The site was plain as a butcher’s wrap but the flavor of the text kept me coming back for more, and more and how could one resist. It’s a tribute that a gracious man cherished by many having the foresight and willingness to share his time, his words, his being with so many here on this site from the very beginnings.

The world is so big and Don Gordo filled his space so well, I am one of the few fortunate that happens to live in South Florida and recall my last meeting with Don Gordo as he was guest of honor for our local CRT Chapter meeting at the Hard Rock Café. Sitting at the main and table, Godfather holding court, no bigger smile, no happier heart pounding strong and proud was Don Gordo. It was official, he was retiring and would now have the opportunity to spend the majority of his new life in the pleasure lands that he so much brought into the minds of many that followed.

I had a brought as a party gift a very large mardi gras necklace that had beads the size of bowling balls and he placed that necklace around his neck and then proceeded to ask every Hooters server if they wanted to touch his big balls … DG was a very entertaining person and no words can really convey how much we loved, respected, and now remember a beloved brother.

Don Gordo, at last count your precious and forever noted site has a visitor count of over 340,000 visitors, but you have doubled that number with the amount of friends, fellows, and journeymen that have been blessed to know you.

RIP …. JB

Don Gordo was one of the original mongers I met here in 1997. I remember he would walk around the rey with this shirt that said "Don Gordo"

I asked one of the girls hey who is that guy

she said

"don Gordo" :)

Rick, Don Gordo was an interesting man. He loved to travel...especially in CR. I knew him for at least 15 years and we had a lot of fun together along with other fellow members/ travelers to this place we loved to be in. I first met him on one of his early walking tours. I was intrigued by the fact that just about every place we stopped to see the chica hospitality...there was always a manager/ madam that knew him as DG. He was certainly a forward scout for other visitors that found their way into SJ's chica establishments along with places of interest.

If you wanted to find the cheapest places to go, chicas to hire or other events....just hook up with this man of SJ experience. He was a well known contributor on the original CRS site Where it began for a lot of us conversing with other members. Some of this current board were longtime members there before it dissolved and CRT luckily replaced it. He was friendly, Jovial, outgoing but would look you in the eye and challenge your negative comment of the chicas and CR people if you stated any in disrespect without reasoning.

As many others have stated.....I will miss his presence. And, give my blessings to his family. I'm sure he is up there smoking a cigar. Bless him.

Met DG at the CRT Anniversary Party 2006. Accidentally sat in his chair while he went to the john, and of course yielded the seat to him immediately upon his return lol. Later after the party around midnight about 10 of us walked to the Rey with him leading us and cautioning us never to do this walk alone. Had a great night at the Rey soaking up his wisdom. He seemed to keep it simple fun and drama free. As time went on we would often find ourselves travelling together as we lived near other.

RIP amigo! You will be missed!

Only got to mix it up a few times with Don Gordo. As a fellow original Bostonian we spoke the same language as loyal fans. Wish I had known of his more recent trips to Vegas so we could have mixed it up more. Yes, he was a Wicked Fun Guy and a Good Man. RIP Don Gordo.

I signed-up with CRT and paid my lifetime VIP dues about nine years ago. I always appreciated the wisdom offered by the forefathers.

I took a few years off away from the board.

Now that I'm back, I'm sad to hear of the passing of DG, Paco Loco, and Irish Drifter. Rest in peace, brothers.

Wow, this news gets to me.

I met Rick (DG) back in 2001. We were both frequent visitors and posters on the club hombre site, which is still alive although on some form of life support now. Both of us from Boston, living in South Florida and cheering the Boston teams on at the onset of the greatest sports run a city has ever had, we got along with each other quite well. I remember many evenings at Club Idem, with Roberto in his chair by the stairs and DG and I at the bar. DG loved the girls, preferred blowjobs over intercourse and was always extremely gregarious with the staff in that place. Not sure if anyone knows how Roberto is doing - last time I was in town he'd already retired - but if so I hope someone can inform him of this news. I imagine that Roberto would be saddened to hear.

He loved Costa RIca. One time he told me that he had days where he didn't even bother with a girl, because he was having so much fun just hanging out around town. He also told me that he'd deny that were I ever to repeat it, but I guess I can go ahead and quote him now on that one. Earl, the del rey taxi driver was also a friend. Earl had lived in Boston as well for some years and those guys got along really well.

Back then a del rey girl would spend all night with you for $100, often less, and there was such a great party atmosphere all around SJO. It was easy to find a GFE back then. I miss those days, and this news is making me very nostalgic. I pretty much hated SJO the last two times there, probably not for what it is but more for what it no longer is. RIP my friend.
