Yep. That's my prediction too donjuan. If CD is not released soon, the U.S. Embassy will have no choice but to weigh in with our gov'ts interpretation of this untested and precident setting law. And if this mess ends up with a trial and 4+ year sentence, then it will definately make US national news. American citizen arrested and convicted in CR for exercising his free speech rights from his home in Florida. A debate in and of itself, but as you said it will certainly role over into the juicier topic and discussion of the whole ST industry in general. And if it gets to that level on prime time news for a few nights in a row? Guys with wives and girlfriends will need to become a whole lot more creative than the usual "going fishing and whitewater rafting". Wives and girlfriends will suddenly become interested in fishing, rafting, golfing, dental work, etc and will want to tag along. Win-win for the tourist industry, Jjj.
Also has anyone else noticed the rapid expansion of the Bachelor Party business over the last year or so in Jaco? They will also take a big hit if exposed for being what they really are. San Jose is a large city with diverse industries and millions of people. The ST industry is mainly concealed in and around the gulch, not so much in the face of general tourism and Tico families. But yet it appears to be raising big concern for some politicians. Jaco's only industry is tourism, and mainly general tourism. Many Tico families visit Jaco on weekends, especially holiday weekends; it's the closest beach to San Jose. IMHO the increase of BP business in Jaco with packs of young drunken gringos plowing the streets and beaches day and night has surely got to be catching the attention of the political elites as well. I can easily see Cocal being next on the chopping block. And isn't Cocal owned by Americans?
Exactly, excellent perspective and well said. If he does end up sitting in prison for some time, I can see a major news outlet picking this juicy story up. They still might. Once that happens, the entire scene will be under fire. Thank god I'm divorced and don't need an excuse for going down there.

Nevertheless, if I owned a business down there related to this, I'd be having some sleepless nights. I'd definitely have some good local CR attorneys available on retainer to protect my investment. Better be prepared for the worst but hope for the best. Not sure who owns Cocal, I thought it was a Tico.
