First Off, I don't know Vegas Bob but I do not think his report of the raising of prices of drinks was that to start a riot over a few quarters. I think he was just reporting the facts.

Now to the rest of this up and down thread... JEEZ can someone please take a look at the value of the colone over the last year and a half. Prices are actually cheaper now then they were then if you take the devaluation of the colone into effect. Last April 03 I was getting around 400 colones to a dollar maybe a little less. now its closer to 450.

Drinks have not gone up, but they adjusted the price of them with the moving of the colone vs the dollar. The .25c or .50 is no big deal but they are just adjusting for the current market.

And hadn't you guys noticed that ANY topic concerning money on here takes off in all directions?
Whether it's some gringo paying Vegas prices for a chica, sending a chica money, some rumor that a hotel/MP might charge more, or beer going up 50 colones... :P

It seems that this thread has unexpectedly taken on a life of its own and gone in several different directions. Hell,it even explored the "Lifestyles of the rich and famous" when it ventured into the trash bins that are home to our beloved Circus. (by the way Circus,I think your son is an ungrateful wrech after all the misery that his father has brought him just to prepare him for the cruel world out there) Fortunately the raise in drink prices of 100-200 colones/drink doesn't mean shit to me. It has become more of an inconvenience making and always carrying change to make sure that I have some for the waitresses unlike some other patrons who choose to leave nothing. I was certainly more upset with the management of the DR when they were forcing the chicas to go to the Monkey Bar and bring a drink receipt back to gain admission. (Previously reported)
To thoses members who are upset with this whole thread,I apologise, but since I live here I try to contribute by reporting on the day to day goings on.

I don`t think that the "Grim Reaper" ever has to apologize for reporting the facts. Even though it is usually bad news that he gives us, we still need to hear it.
Keep up the good work, VB

No disrespect to anyone on this board, but as a former bar/restaurant owner for 22 years, I always looked at the people who snuck in their own booze, etc as low life thieves that were stealing food off my table. Altho I'm sure that I will not change any low life habits that other members may have developed over the years, by expressing my views, I just thought that I would mention another perspective. Sure, John and Greg at the DR "probably won't miss a few colones" that low life mofos steal from them--but that is probably what several low lifes said about me too--right before I kicked their low life asses out and told them to stay the f*ck away from my establishment. I guess I never took a liking to thieves and liars. This is also the reason that drink prices are so high--to cover some of the theft, which this behavior happens to fall under. So you guys do what you have to do to justify you behavior--just thought I would throw in my dos colones worth

I just hate it when I have to jump in mid stream.....

If John really gave a shit about 100c and making a profit he would have a weekly audit of every beer, bottle, soda pop in the whole place.

He would save easily 20 to 35% of his PROFIT, not the gross. His profit. Guaranteed.

Nobody likes doing it. It's unpopular with bar staff. Very few stick with it. An audit lets you figure out what's yours and what's been stolen.

Then I'm sure John would lower all his drink prices.

Given the fact that they count the unopened bottles of booze and physically measure the open ones at the bar every shift what makes you think they do not do a physical inventory of the rest of the items at least weekly?
