I think we get the point now guys. We do not need to go over the same ground over and over again here. Its been covered we understand the pitfalls of being a passenger in a taxi
Not at all. How to protect oneself had nothing to do with this post or the response. We have had sufficient (countless) threads on being a
passenger in taxis.
But are we forbidden to visit the flip side to that coin? How we should conduct ourselves in their country. My response it not about the "
the pitfalls of being a passenger in a taxi " One the contrary, that
has been covered
over and over.
My response addressed what is expected of us (proper behavior).

We expect taxis to use accurate meters, take the shortest or fasted route, upon our instruction, not rob us, be there on time when we have a run to the airport etc but there is a flip side to this coin. We should be considerate toward them as well.

The proper way to exit a taxi is to advise the driver that you wish to exit the taxi. This allows the driver several options.
1. Use the turn signal to indicate to others on the road that he is about to stop or turn.
2. View the rear view and side mirrors to look for the ever present motorcycles filtering up beside him.
3. Move the vehicle within inches of the curb so there is no danger of a motorcycle or cyclist attempting to filter up beside him.
4. Turn on the Hazard lights to indicate passengers are entering or exiting.
But just swinging open vehicle doors in traffic, without looking, never works in Costa Rica or many other countries.

DO WE NEED 3 Pages of the same dribble
Couldn't agree more.
My post were informative, and each made a separate point and even included video links. None of them violated the board rules. Each would help a newbie or oldie that wants to get along in Costa Rica.
We have 4000 post about what to pay a girl and 52,718 views about ball shaving. Are we now being censored on sharing information that really pertains to daily life in Costa Rica from someone that has actually lived it, Successfully ?
