I believe Brother Devo is mistaken. According to the last list in this Link, it doesn't even make the top 5 (not that that's a competition anyone wishes to win):

It should get damn cold there, as it lies in the middle of the continent, far away from any ocean, and its latitude is far enough north that it gets slammed by high pressure domes that come down from the Arctic. :D

I did something similar. Lived in Canada most of my life then Russia (Siberia) for a couple of years then a couple more reasonable countries before ending up here in the south (USA). Don't miss the snow at all. Except at Christmas. Grilling on Christmas day is just weird for me.

Landed in Chicago after a week of beautiful CR weather. It was 2 degrees. The high today is 12. I couldn't even get in my driveway when I got home. Too bad I didn't manage to miss my flight :(
