Hell, I've been off here for over a year and a half and then when I pop in.....I apparently stir up up emotions. Admin, my apologies if others viewed my commentary as "political." Although conservative, I refuse to belong to any parties since I don't trust politicians PERIOD.

As for my comment on doing research. All one has to do is find the Limbaugh website and read the text.

"I was asked yesterday where will I go for health care if Obama's health care passes, and I said if doctors here are not permitted to form private practice little clinics with individuals paying a fee, a retainer, and for services, then I'll go to Costa Rica to get major medical health care. I didn't say I would move there. They're all over these websites: "Limbaugh says he'd move to Costa Rica. Why, what more incentive do we have to pass health care to get Limbaugh to move to Costa Rica?" Now, New Zealand is reading about this and they're all bent out of shape that I'm somehow not coming there, all because of the stupid media. They are not competing for me because Costa Rica doesn't think I'm going to move there, which I wouldn't. Gosh."

Limbaugh is an opinionated entertainer and excellent at what he does but he certainly does not guide my life. I'm an independent and as I stated previously, I abhor politicians.

It is a fact that there are major plans for clinics with American and Central American doctors to offer services if the U.S. destroys it's medical superiority. Several friends of mine that are physicians plan to close their practice here in Jax and in Orlando if the health bill becomes law. And, with the medicare cuts, they cannot operate a business on the fees that would be paid to them. It's extremely difficult to pay their staffs on the current program.

And BTW, Bilko: I can only hope that some day I might be able to post intelligent and thought provoking commentaries to message boards as you quite frequently do. Unfortunately, I am a small fish in the pond and have little to show for it. If only I had your talent. Basically, I'm just pitiful.

Well Circus you can accept his sanitized explanation, after the fact, on what he intended but I will go with the transcript of what he originally said.

Circus,

I have nothing against you, and I have enjoyed your posts. You have a great sense of humor. If you find me offensive, I regret that, but I am not going to change any more than you are. I regret that we haven't met in person. It's possible we might even get along (as long as we don't talk politics).

If the USA adopts Obama's socialized healthcare where will Canada's wealthy citizens and politicians go when they want superior healthcare? :P

I don't think anyone is reading closely what could or will happen. But then I don't have a dog in this race because i am the beneficiary of socialized medicine of the best kind--the FEHB (Federal Employees Health Benefit Plan) with my plan payment deductions well below what most Federal employees pay. Keep buying those stamps, y'all

With Rush i remember his housekeeper taking the heat for his Druggy binging and he walked away smiling. I just cannot grasp the idea that the housekeeper initiated the drug deals. She broke the law just the same as he did and he got off scoot free.

"Jane, you ignorant slut..."

http://www.hulu.com/watch/2306/saturday-night-live-point-counterpoint-lee-marvin-and-michelle-triola

Brilliant!

Dan Aykroyd: I'm station manager Dan Akroyd. During the past few weeks in Los Angeles, actor Lee Marvin and his former live-in companion Michelle Triola Marvin have been in court to settle her claim that he owes her half his income from the six years they lived together. That is the subject of tonight's Point-Counterpoint. Jane will take the pro-Michelle Marvin point, while I will take the anti-Michelle Triola counterpoint. Jane?

Jane Curtin: Dan, times change and so does the nature of relationships. People are reluctant to get married these days and looking at divorce statistics, who can blame them. But the lack of a piece of paper does not neccessarily mean the lack of a total commitment. A woman is this modern-day relationship may well give up all her personal pursuits, as Michelle Marvin claims she did, to give her full support to her man's career. And Michelle Marvin is just asking that the courts recognize that reality. Dan, there's an old saying: "Behind every successful man there's a woman." A loving, giving, caring woman. But you wouldn't know about that, Dan, because there's no old saying about what's behind a miserable failure. [ gives a look of arrogance ]

Dan Aykroyd: Jane, you ignorant slut! Bagged-out, dried-up, slunk meat like you and Michelle Triola know the rules. If you want a contract, sign on the dotted line. Oh, but let's all shed a tear for poor Michelle Triola. There was only testimony that she had sexual intercourse over forty times with another man while living with actor Lee Marvin. But I suppose that sort of fashionable promiscuting means nothing to someone like you, Jane, who hops from bed to bed with the frequency of a cheap ham radio. But hell hath no fury like a woman scorned, and Michelle Triola, like a screeching, squealing, rapacious swamp sow is after actor Lee Marvin's last three million dollars. I guess what you and Michelle are saying is that when you're on your backs, the meter is running. Well, please spare us, gals, and tell us the rates at the top. Then we can choose which two bit tarts and bargain basement sluts to shack up with.

Jane Curtin: That's the news. Good night, and have a pleasant tomorrow.

Saying that the US has medical superiority is just mythologizing--we are 37th in the world in delivering effective health care to all our citizens (please don't raise the bogeyman/ straw figure of undocumented aliens--they don't figure in any plans I'm aware of and I've read deeply). So how do we deliver effective medical care to the vast majority of US citizens? I don't know. What I do know is that the issue has to be addressed soon and by consensus--posturing by either side merely moves the marker to yet another generation (it's been routinely ignored for 6 generations now, at 11 years per generation--the standard measure). I can support any effective plan, no matter who in what shade of the political spectrum it comes from. What I can't abide is 45+ Million American citizens being thrown over the side and forced to rely on emergency rooms for primary care--this costs all of us that aren't gaziilonaires a ton of money. This isn't politics--this is economics. Pay small now or pay me tall later--your choice.
NOTE: this post is not posturing, it's a plea for rationality. And if you don't trust at least some politicians, you are putting yourself entirely outside the game. How then can you hope to influence anybody about anything? "You've got to be in it to win it." Yes, I've been severely disheartened by folks I believed in--does that mean I'll never believe again? Liken this to being in love...and ask the question again.
