Thanks Lomo. I am planning a May trip to Sosua just to change it up. If things change in CR down the road, I have no problem hanging in Sosua.

Simpler, they may just want men to think they are as perfect as they want to appear to them, trying to hide what they consider to be the ugly truth about themselves. And I may be reading more into it than is there, but I do believe they consider the basis of the lies to be justified."

All due respect to Madam Presidente, but perhaps some DFK and spirited sex would help her change her mind about sexual freedom in CR. I'll volunteer to fall on the grenade. Also if CR closes down, we will hear a giant sucking sound as all of those dollars and euros flow to the DR.

Tempest in a teapot. Even were the worst to happen P4P would never disappear. All that would happen is that it would be pushed around into different venues and avenues of procurement. There will never be a lack of girls to see there, especially if you're been taking numbers.

CR's got bigger things to worry about than Laura, and so do the working girls. Once the barriers to going to Cuba drop you'll be able to see tumbleweeds blowing past you in the gulch.

Only hope for what? :?

They better hope she gives them a job or some food stamps to feed their K*ds if she eliminates "the business".

Exactly, Ticas already have all the domestic violence and Ch*ld support laws so heavily tilted in their favor. Anything more than that Ticos and Gringos alike be movin out the country!

Also regarding "seizing property to compensate mothers for thier Ch*ld rearing costs", the courts in CR are already doing this, Tica complain and man out the house ASAP.

Hopefully nothing will change to much on the ground in C.R.

My opinion only- but I can't see Cuba allowing or being allowed to have Pay 4 Play so close to the U.S., if it does open, much of how it opens will be decided by Uncle Sam.

I also feel it would be a real bad thing if things shut down or are heavily slowed down in SJO as it will definately mean a very large, very visible migration to various cities in Colombia. I'm not sure what the reaction of the locals there in government would be but I can't see it being positive. The law of unintended consequences is always at play.

Airfare to Medellin only a hundred $ more than CR and the P4P seems to be much cheaper for much finer chicas. I'm reevaluating everything. Am I wrong?

.Come on Casa V:

You say, "My opinion only- but I can't see Cuba allowing or being allowed to have Pay 4 Play so close to the U.S., if it does I saopen, much of how it opens will be decided by Uncle Sam."

IMHO,---"No way"!!!

1. That's the way Cuba was before the revolution, which is why I think so many people think it might happen again.

2. There is a town right on the US-Mexican border (TJ) where P4P is about the only game in town. The place is a dangerous dive, but the US has nothing to say about it.

What is a feminist?

I am not really sure what feminist means in today’s parlance, but LOMO’s observation that she is strongly influenced by her religious beliefs is right on target. Roman Catholicism does not link back to either the puritan ethic or Victorian ethic. In fact the opposition to the corruption in the RC church is what brought about the protestant movement. The complicated belief system is often contradictory enigma, a dichotomy. It has been and will always be. It is just practiced quietly

On Ch*ld support:

Responsible people in Costa Rica can have their wages garnished to pay Ch*ld support. The sad part is that too many of the Ticos are deadbeats to begin with and since they don’t have a pot in which to urinate, they skate. I know of a couple of mongers who have Ch*ldren in Costa Rica who cannot leave because they cannot post the one year in advance Ch*ld support which is a legal requirement.

P4P in Cuba:

I agree with the observation that Cuba will probably be a vacuum of tourism dollars taking away significant income from CR. Prior to Cuba becoming Communist, P4P was a significant business. The “great moralist” Fiddel outlawed it upon taking control of the government.

I forgot to add this one: We should not confuse eliminating flagrant demonstrations of P4P for the subtle and discrete exercise of P4P. Think of it as crude and crass humping vs. the gentlemanly art of romance and love.

P4P and dalliances are well established traditions in this European style society. The people of this culture are going to have trysts where the services rendered are compensated. The “wholey of wholies” never has been nor ever will be free. P4P is just an honest and pure way of reaching our objective. "It isn't personal Sonny, it's strictly business."

BangBang started out this thread with insightful observations. He is right. Some of your monger buddies are closer than you might expect and it would be inappropriate to post substantiation. Notwithstanding, it cannot be said enough, just tone it down outside the hotels and throughout the Gulch. Be respectful. We are their guests. It is their country.

No one wants to be disrepected. No one. Flagrant displays show contempt. Treating people with dignity and respect is always a good montra.

CR does not have an army but never let that cause one to conclude that they do not know how to fight.

These people have taken bureaucratic mumbo-jumbo to world class levels. If there were an Olympic sport patterned after Tie-Down Roping in rodeo, but it would be tying-down or tying-up people in bureaucratic red tape, little CR would win the gold, silver and bronze.

If action is taken by the new government it will not be a frontal assault. It will be a slow death by strangulation. The only way we will know: the corpse will be wrapped in red tape.

Exactly! This is NOT a tempest in a teapot. The P4P got run out of Puerto Rica years ago, then Panama and now CR is possibly next ! Don't say it won't happen in CR.

Jawanker: If Chinchilla got caught up in a sex scandal of her own I can assure you anti-P4p laws would never pass and if they do --yeah-- there will still be some P4P but things will never be the same and CR won't be worth the trip.

I heard of an immigration raid in Panama a short time ago but nowhere I have I read that the P4P has been run out of Panama. One immigration raid does not equate with a total shutdown as numerous raids in CR will attest to.
