I tend not to tell... I would only tell after I've figured out that the person is ok with the general sentiment of our hobby...

It's just not worth the heartache and aggravation in such an incredibly puritanical society as the US.

I should add that I do use the euphemism that I'm fishing for pink snapper when asked by those not in the know. I love that term

Fish meet barrel

Klockman, Do you use "green bait" when you go pink snapper fishing? I'm assuming you like to go night fishing and only do "catch and release" (returning whatever you catch back to the waters after you've hooked it in the mouth and firmly set your rubber coated lure by pumping your rod repeatedly until you tire of the activity)?

I tend to agree with that statement. If you think they'd be cool with it, MAYBE you'll turn a friend on to a world he wasn't aware of but might enjoy, MAYBE they wouldn't or can't do it themselves, maybe they'll be envious or MAYBE they won't care one way or the other. THE ONLY PROBLEM with this is MAYBE they'll indiscreetly and/or thoughtlessly pass along the information about what you do to someone you both know who is not so openminded. IMHO, most people are not that good at keeping secrets, particularly other people's secrets. After all, what do they care? The intolerant person they might tell won't be judging THEM, they'll be judging YOU.

Maybe what we need to do, if we tell other people about CR mongering is somehow swear them to secrecy, at least about our part in it if not also about CR mongering in general ... yeah, like that would really work. There is supposed to be a "guy code". When you tell a friend about something, like what you do in CR, he's SUPPOSED to simply know that he shouldn't share that information with women you both know, PARTICULARLY not your wife (assuming you're married). HOWEVER, there's also supposed to be a "VIP code" here among our CRT brothers who SHOULD understand the "guy code" as better than anyone, but we all know there are always a few who share their password with chicas or show them photos or posts that they shouldn't. How can we really be sure that "trustworthy" friend won't "innocently" let something slip to his wife that gets passed back to yours or say something to a fellow female colleague at work?

Dammit! I've been found out.

I've tried some day time fishing as well, you just need to go where the snapper is, fortunately there are tours and info is readily available.

To each their own. I am a fairly private person - well, some of you might not believe that! - but I only share my life's details with those people that I am comfortable with. I view this issue in the same way as the military detemines who has access to classified information -

Do they have my confidence AND
Do they have the NEED to know.

Each person needs to sort this complicated issue out for themselves.

Other than some of the CRT brotherhood, I don't have friends that I see anymore. It is just the way it is when you are divorced, in your 60's, and my long time friends are all still married. Somehow the invitations just don't quite reach me anymore.

My ex once said in front of our daughters, "Well I know that there is prostitution in Costa Rica." My comment was, "And your point is?" She has never said anything else about it, nor did my daughters.

I could really care less if people know what I do. I am not breaking any laws, nor hurting anyone. I wish that all are enjoying their lives as much as I am now. I have never been as happy in my life (not only for mongering), as I am now. If they want to cast stones, it is not my burden to bear.

Health & happiness to all.......

I couldn't agree more, especially on the woman front, the fact that we're a plane ride away from a relatively BS free environment with chicas half our age that treat us well apparently completely destroys the WWWU (World Wide Women's Union)

Since I began hobbying, I can't date at home anymore, I mean I can go out for a date or two if I think it's foreplay but the moment a woman is talking to me after date 2, All I hear is...Costa Rica, Colombia....or Costa Rica, maybe Colombia, Hey wanna got to Costa Rica....etc.

A buddy of mine said I should use this freedom to try and score with the hottest chicks I can find with the most minimal effort, my response? Everyone should do that anyways!

My ego is up, my confidence is up, I'm not conceited, but I am convinced. And the lack of apprehension from me and my complete unwillingness to compromise, is most definitely not sitting well with many ladies.

It is a sorting process. Women who are looking for a man who can be easily manipulated are put off by confident men. These are not the women we are looking for anyway. Women who are self-assured value men who are also self-assured. Try the professional women, not the clericals and you may find a different response. (It is important not to throw your sexual freedom in their face...try not to let them know they can't possibly compete with hot young Latinas or they react quite bitterly).

I tend to be pretty vocal about it now.
It went through a stage where it was probably 10% supportive, and 90% totally against it.

But it found it impossible to prevent. If I ever met up with a girl who didnt know about it, she would come back in a few days pissed off because a friend had told her.

Now it usually gets tossed out there pretty quickly by me or a friend, and in most cases its not a problem. Most of the guys seem pretty relaxed about it, ask some questions. Some of the girls get a sense of curiosity, and get intrigued that way.

All the well, no point in hiding it

Yeah...You get some interesting responses from people. Several years ago, my older sister, who knows why I go to Costa Rica, made the comment to me upon my return "I guess you screwed lots of 'PROSTITUTES' down there?"

I just said back to her "yeah....lots of 'em." 8)

On the dating thing, I gave that up awhile ago. Keeping the "relationship" turns into a job in itself. And I already work two jobs and lead a volunteer effort at my primary job.So a fourth occupation I do not need. Especially when you spend a substantial amount of money out for so little in return.
Dating makes no mathmatical sense at all, imo.

Though I've been in a few short term relationships in the last three years, I've quit dating as a general rule. I'm too old and stuck in my ways as are the women I meet. Anyway, I'm not exactly what you would call date bait. I do like to hobby though. A few of my friends and family know why I like to visit CR. I never talk about it at work, it's just not a good idea where I work. They think I'm looking at it as a place to retire, which is true but I never speak of about the mongering aspect.
