The hobby shifts and changes. CR has declined rapidly and now is an average to below average mongering spot. Brazil and Argentina have tanked. Colombia holds strong, social media is king. The PI remains fantastic, but much has shifted to social media as well. Indonesia is an amazing world to discover. Thailand remains hot, with Bangkok being more expensive but better than Pattaya. Cuba shifts and changes and but is strong. The DR? More complex.. And on and on and on.

I like Pattaya better then Bangkok, why do you think Bangkok is better?

1) World class city-I am a city boy at heart
2) Great clubs (not sex clubs). Fantastic electronic dance music scene.
3) Amazing dining. Street food to molecular gastronomy. Amazing middle eastern food, as an aside.
4) Overall, better looking women
5) Less overrun with some of the lower life Auzzie and British dudes. Sorry, this sounds offensive, and I do not mean all guys from those countries, but a certain class that seems to populate Pattaya.
6) Diversity of sex scene.
7)Amazing deals on 5 start hotels. Better deals on cheap hotels are in Pattaya for sure.
I can wonder the streets of Bangkok for days and never get board. Pattaya is not that kind of place.

Pattaya is best if you need the beach (very eh beach), want a lower cost experience, and want more of a "boys club" scene. Places like the guest houses on LK Metro are great for that.

Mind you, Pattaya is fantastic, I just prefer Bangkok.

I agree totally and I am a beach bum at heart. I usually monger in SE Asia w BKK the destination of choice, just imagine 10 DR or Cocals in one tiny strip mall. The last couple of years I have shifted to CR-
1- easier / cheaper flight : 20 hr plus flights r death
2- easier to learn Spanish

I feel that CR is the Thailand of the Central/S Amer. taller, fairer skin n fun attitude. For those of you seeking to expand your monger footprint, I would rec the PI n BKK. Will not be disappointed.
