The lilly white lincoln attorny probably never camped out a day in his life , caught, cleaned and cooked his own food, never played in the dirt as a K*D. He seems like a whiney little basterd to me. He is probably smart as he made it through college and law school but failed to do his research on this chica. My guess is after this chica smeared that Costa Rican pu*sy all over him, he was blinded. I would relate marriage to a chica as to a wild exotic flower, they are beautiful and thrive when in their natural habit, once picked they wilt quickly.

Raw... assuming he's still married to the Tica and everyone is living back in the States... I wonder how much nookie he's gonna be getting after she reads the negative piece he wrote about HER BELOVED COUNTRY THAT SHE HAS BEEN HOMESICK FOR.

right on Raw!! I was overseas 5 years in the Army long ago & it always amazed me how some people could spend a full year long tour and only leave the base a total of maybe 10 hours the whole time. Face it, we have 300 million people in the USA, that leaves room for alot of losers.

I just spent 45 minutes talking with Mr. Sullivan. He is nothing like some of you have portrayed him here. He is an intelligent and personable gentleman. He has lived in 14 states and 3 foreign countries.

For the most part he enjoyed his time in Costa Rica (yes, he had visited numerous times) but the crime just became too much and he felt it was not the place to raise two small sons.

He and his tica wife and their sons all live back in Nebraska and are doing very well.

I invited him on CRT to tell his side of the story. I'll give him a day to see if he accepts the invitation. If he decides not to bother I will post what I found out about the "rest of the story".

I guess the secret to marrying a tica and living in the USA is to ensure that the tica is intellectually curious, able to adapt to life away from CR. Many Latinos succeed with this, making new friends, and having new activities, in the states.

Mr. Sullivan's comments sounded very snobish towards Costa Rica and the people there. He uses phrases like GRIMACED at the site of dogshit and garbage, SHUDDERED at the site of a Costa Rican dad teaching his K*D that it is better to piss on the street than in his pants, ENDURED the lack of electricity. The same things go on in Lincoln NB and apparently he has been SHEILDED from that side of life.

As someone who lives here (16 months and counting) I can see his point and it definitely is not for all. As with all places there are good and bad.
I am a creature of change and have lived and travelled all over. My life is much simpler here than it was at home, but that is a lot to do with me and just some to do with Costa Rica. Lincoln, Nebraska is about as culturally opposite as it gets from CR. Lots of people move here and go back, I am sure that is the case with most expat relocation destinations.

Wow that is great & hope he comes on here. I am happy some of our thoughts were not correct. I would love to hear some of his stories & adventures.

I think we should try to understand how difficult it is for a Latina to up root from her culture & move to the USA. We might think we are bettering their lives or saving them but they may see this WAY different. It takes a strong Latina to do this that has true feelings for you. I feel if men chose to try to transplant a Latina you need to realize extra attention needs to be given to off set some of these problems. It maybe much harder to deal with than a Gringa at times but that generally is off set by their loving nature so most men do not mind the extra pampering. What goes around comes around with the good ones :) !

You have to give him credit for trying it down there but I am with him that the crime is way to big of a problem especially trying to raise 2 little boys.

It is hard in CR to enjoy your success in life in many ways. You are a big target if you show you have anything. Then there is the razor wired walls with the dogs :( ! Then you have to worry about them kidnapping the little ones to get to you. It never ends. It is much easier if you only have yourself to worry about.

I can relate to what the guy is saying. For me, it's a nice place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there.

That 220 electrical line that almost killed him.....I wonder if that was in a "suicide shower?" :P

No, it was a new 220 into the house that took the CNFL three months to get connected outside. The stove and washer/dryer were plugged into it. If you touched the stove, you got shocked. Same with the washer/dryer.

This makes it a real joke to try & save or convert a working girl where all you have is BS anyway. They have everything to gain & you have everything to lose which you will. For them it is little more than an extended vacation where all the bills are paid for.

So you're calling my wife a whore?

Sounds like the big pu*sy should pack up and go back to Nebraska then send his esposa a nice big check every month and all his problems will be solved.

We packed up and left back in June, just like my letter to the A.M. Costa Rica said. My wife is much happier here now. She learned what we all learn at some point in our lives - that you can never go home. It just won't ever be what it was.

It's not that hard living down here. Sure I bitch about stuff just like everybody else, but it is really a soft gringo that "can't" live down here.

How many K*ds are you raising there?

Poor guy is a fish out of water.Living in a third world country is not for everyone. The culture and language obstacles are impossible for some people. He's going to go crazy if he doesn't learn to accept the fact he's not in the US.

I speak the language. I lived in Desamparados. I barely associated with anyone besides Ticos. I immersed myself in the culture. I didn't live in a gated community in Escazu.

WTF, this guy thinks his troubles are over because he has moved his family back to the US? His wife is never, NEVER going to stop missing her family and friends in CR. The dumb sh*t should have moved some of her family to the US and not the other way around. It is obvious that he doesn’t understand the Latin mentality and deep ties of a Latin woman and here family. I predict that this marriage will not last much longer. She will be back in CR with her family and k*ds collecting a large check every month and he will be
At home scratching his head wondering what the hell went wrong.

No, my friend - she is happier now than ever. She found that all her friends are married with K*ds and the country had gotten so much worse, especially in terms of crime, in the eight years she had been gone.
