A rather long and tedious articles about prostitutes and freedom of speech in Costa Rica written by a guy who admits he has never been to San Jose; and who bases his conclusions on information and statistics from a friend living in Costa Rica; but who would not bring his wife and Ch*ldren to CR; while in the same breath making a comment about Colombian national security considerations as the reason sex-tourism is being moved to Medellin because it is a "more natural habitat for prostitutes." WTF. I'm out of breath just trying to read what he wrote. This guy is all over the place... LOL. Trying to impose American values and standards in a country like Costa Rica is like putting a round peg in a square hole. (and vice versa). This thread may beat the number of posts in the "Shaved balls" thread some day.

^ Agreed that is a horribly written piece of "journalism" but it seems par for the course these days unfortunately.

Tico Times just posted another update. Looks like Cuba Dave will be in San Sebastían preventive prison until 2016 at the earliest. http://www.ticotimes.net/2015/11/25/cos ... -in-prison

Does CR give credit for time served? His preventative detention might very well last the 8 year maximum sentence.

Not sure if this has been posted or even if it has anything to do with Cuba Dave. Seems to be that Costa Rica is serious about cleaning up their reputation for foreign visitors.

HHmmmmm......well, for sure I'm not clicking on that site. This is an ineffectual entrapment campaign since it advertises "young girls." Well, define "young," that could mean 18-24 for some, 25-30 for others and so on. "Young" doesn't mean und***ge. And you know something, in all my years of going to CR, I have never once witnessed anything untoward regarding sex with m!n*rs.

Two things to keep in mind...

1. Always check their cedulas yourself(I prefer chicas late 20's or 30's so usually not even close).

2. Never trust that an MP owner is verifying appropriate ages. Maybe just skip that chica that looks close.


Wow, so now CR is having hang-ups about sex What about all the stories of incest we have all heard regarding uncles, brothers, fathers, cousins, etc. Something tells me that is way more rampant. I will say I always did like that giant billboard they had at the airport........

My 2cents, just be a gentleman to the ladies and nothing will be bad. Some of these woman are ridicules and will try to rob you and let the hotels know. I know a guy with a clock radio with a hidden camera and unknowingly records woman.

Just do the right thing, everything else will be fine.

Why even put yourself in such a position where you need to do that? Plenty of other places to go without all these hassles.

CR is really not a place to screw around with the law. Just imagine if Ann Patton is innocent, the poor lady has to do the time on top of grieving her husband's suicide. And the prosecution just doesn't take "not guilty" for an answer. It's triple jeopardy down ther Pura VIda
