It was just announced that the leadership of 60,000 nuns in the USA, in defiance of the bishops, has come out for health-care reform. It thinks that it is ridiculous that 30 million people are uncovered, 45,000 per year are dying due to lack of coverage, over half the personal bankruptcies are due to unpaid med bills, domestic abuse is a pre-existing condition, etc.

Uh oh... it's starting to get ugly in here!

We already have national healthcare in the USA, but most people do not realize it. My roommate has Leukemia and needed a stem cell transplant. Her insurance company, Aetna, dropped her and she ended up on Medicaidi. Medicad paid the cost for the transplant, $250,000, and she is on the road to recovery. As people get these major illnesses the insurance companies find ways to drop them so they do not have to pay. The patient is forced to depend on the federal government to take care of their medical expense, this is national healthcare.

There have many good points made on both sides and a few lies told.
My calling out a few lies has provoked NYG to start with the PM attacks.
It seems nothing new is forthcoming, so........I give up on this thread.

so much for civility. that always ends with name calling. sure seems like that initiates from the left.
as far as fox news, sure they go overboard the other direction on occasion, but that does not make their entire pov racist or irrelevant. shouting down the opposition is never the answer.
and even with some things they report representing a far right pov, there is NO other news outlet on tv that represents conservative thinking. no its not always fair and balanced but it certainly gives the other side of the coin. that should not frighten people into name calling. no one is a bigot for not accepted lock step ideas from a biased media.

This thread started out ugly but then actually turned into an informative and civil discussion (probably why Admin1 let it be) let's not let it get ugly again. I believe there is lots of misinformation out there and have learned a few things regarding both sides of the issue from the "civil discussion" pages of this thread. Gracias.

I do not think many people would complain about how Fox news covers things if they would drop the pretense of being fair and balanced. As you point out "there is NO other news outlet on tv that represents conservative thinking." It is good that there exists a counterbalance to TV networks that tend to lean to the left. The sad part is that many whose thinking leans to the right actually believe they are getting unprejudiced reporting from Fox. They are as delusional as those liberals who believe MSNBC does not shade their coverage.

By the way I think your view on which side starts the name calling sounds like something you heard on Fox news.
