Personally I dont believe they will enforce this law with gringos. Yes, they CAN differentiate who they enforce these things with at immigration. Also remember that immigration LAWYERS have a profitable agenda in getting us to apply for residency and scaring us into doing so...as does the government itself from app fees etc. BUT...at the end of the day they are not going to keep us investors or habitual TOURISTS out of Costa Rica. I'm with Handy on betting large sums on this. My attorney also has stated I have nothing to worry about. At the end of the day...if they DONT want us here...theres always Panama, Colombia, Rio, Argentina...etc etc. Dont worry...be happy now...

Agee Tman but I'm not sure. You can't believe the AARP or whatever. And you have to take the Tico Times with a grain of salt. They always exagerate things.

thirdworld;
I agree with you about the Tico Times but I strongly disagree with you about AARP who has fought this law for the past 5 years. If anything, they are advocates for gringos living in CR.
Anyway, since I own property here, I cannot afford to take the chance so I have decided to proceed. If you guys are right, so be it but I don't have the luxury to gamble - I've got too much to lose.

Minor point but just for clarification. Think you guys mean the Association of Residents of Costa Rica ARCR not the American Association of Retired Persons AARP
