Yeah, and the first thing I thought when I saw this was that it was SO HIGH SCHOOL.

The best way to create your private space is to create your own website. One word comes to mind when I think of this private section of CRT - BORING!!!! Boring is why the officers are at the NCO club.... boring is why the officers club is empty.

Just a though,

But if an CRT X section was made for an elite few, wouldn't that limit good info for other VIPs.

Maybe it would be a good idea all could read the section but only those invited can post. That way some won't feel completely left out.

Let me first preface what I am about to say here that I am in no way calling anyone out or picking on the originator of this thread in any way.
Personally I find this idea as one of the most obnoxious thoughts I have ever read on this board. This board for all intensive purposes was created to share ideas good or bad with the members. Why on earth do we need a new section so long standing members can share their very own little private world? You have to be kidding me, really!

If you want to have a small group of say 10 or so start your own board so just you guys can chat among yourselves or do it with emails or PM's. What purpose at all would a special section serve other than alienate the members of this site, VIP's good and bad when the "BOARD OF DIRECTORS" votes someone down. You seem to want to create your own CRT within CRT without the moderation of the admin or his input. That I find in particularly poor taste and against the spirit of the brotherhood & an insult to the admin for all his hard work and efforts in keeping a well moderated board that is open to all.

Sure as a group grows as rapidly and as diverse as this you are going to always get some trolls, some real ass wipes, some people who have nothing to do and want to pipe in for no reason, but does creating separate group change all that? It would appear your group that you are obviously friends already perhaps live in CR or have spent much time there. Doesn’t talking amongst your friend in person serve the same purpose? Why do you need to have a forum to do so?

You mentioned that you wanted to bust balls with long standing veterans of years past; well that is what the smack talk section is for.

Hand-Solo with all due respect this is just a real bad idea & I hope admin does not go this route. Your getting married from what I read anyway, so why would you need to devote your time to this board, or a special section of this board when you will have your hands full in a very short time.

The spirit of CRT will live on even if the long time original members feel slighted or not as important any longer. I for one have been around long before CRT and for years on CRS. What makes this place different is it is allowed to grow and evolve with new blood being infused with new experiences, new feelings being evolved by the new members and having the long time members HELP THE NEWBIES not take it to their private room to discuss it in private.

Perhaps your thoughts were well intended but again I must stress the sharing of thoughts & information even with the unwanted troll or agitator is what makes CRT what it is today.

Perhaps instead of the disenchanted members yearning for the good old days & wanting their own exclusive club... maybe they should re-think and either stay on the sidelines and watch or leave or use their acquired knowledge and experiences to help the newbie’s instead of alienating them.

I for one do not know which members you are referring but I see fine gentlemen like Vegas Bob who continue to support the newbie’s even after I can only assume he is tired of continually dealing with the ever changing 1st timer to come to town and take under his wing, yet he continues to do it like a CRT long standing member should.

I see other members who live in CR continually add information or answer specific questions because the live there and have 1st hand knowledge.

THIS IS WHAT CRT IS ABOUT takes it from the gentlemen who continue to help, and add value instead of thinking you are far to experienced to help others so you can talk among yourselves.

CRT is a great place & this idea needs to disappear quickly.

I know many old time members have met you at parties and have shared thoughts on the way we have evolved, grown & changed as a group. Growth is scary and change is worse many people’s minds. Its time to look within yourself as to what you have to offer rather than to look for a ways to stay isolated.

Sorry Just my opinion but I would hope the site continues to grown and to welcome the new blood in with open arms!

Since I am reading this thread for the first time, and most of Handy's comments have been edited out,I don't quite understand what is going on except that handy seems very upset and appears ready to stop posting. Hopefully I will have a chance to have a beer with him today or tomorrow and find out more. This is NOT what this board is all about.

Handy, I and several others I have talked with through PM and telephone are just simply becoming tired of the direction of the board. He has chosen to stop posting. I am very, very near CRT retirement and will only keep a membership for the ZB discount. It's the only one I really use. Anyone can get the discount at the Prez. Maybe it's just a case of a new wave of posters joining the board. New blood is a good thing but some of the new posters..well...I just don't understand them.

PS..I should make myself clear. I have not personally talked with Handy. I am referring to others in the CRT brotherhood.

Handy suggested a private section by invitation only for long-time members. I don't know why after meeting a little resistance he pulls a "Buzz" and starts editing his posts. Any way I PM'd him a better suggestion and hope he takes a look. I also get many PM's from guys frustrated with things and certain members that seem intent on causing problems, especially in the last month or so. I just choose to ignore those threads or posters I consider in poor taste or just looking to argue, and perhaps this is the wrong approach and a failure on my part as a member. I commend Prolijo as he always stands his ground and posts the proper principles in the face of these problematic posters, I used to do the same but now would rather just avoid the conflict, thinking that nonsense is not worth my time.
The VIP forum served the purpose well for a long time, and now he was suggesting another level of privacy for vet members that actually have met and know each other and those that contribute to the board in a positive way.

Paco, I certainly concur with this statement. Prolijo always seems to be the voice of reason, no matter what the thread content is. I would like to hear how he feels about this particular situation.
Pura Vida Guys, and Happy Turkey day to all!

Anyone here ever read "Atlas Shrugged"? It's a book by Ayn Rand about a time when the movers and the shakers that really hold the world up on their shoulders decided to go on strike. I'm also disturbed by some of the trends I've seen and have thrown out my own ideas FOR DISCUSSION. I won't pretend to have the answers. Maybe the X-Men is a good idea, maybe it isn't, but it was at least worthy of discussion. I don't think Handy should have removed it so quickly. Sure this board has its problems, but we have a long long way to go before it gets to be like CRS and we have to throw the baby out with the bathwater.

We can and should try to come up with some formal solutions, but ultimately the best solution is in all of us. Vets can sometimes be really hard on newbies and some of those newbies really deserve it, but not always. We need to have more patience in letting the newbies learn the ropes. and newbies need to learn quickly to "get with the program" or get out. That means that this board rightly or wrongly chooses to regard these "WHORES" as human beings, ladies if you will, worthy of dignity and respect. Foul language, disrespectful references, irrelevant BOASTING, stupidity in the face repeated and universal advice to the contrary, whether by a newbie or a vet are all things that are going to push other vet's buttons. You may find this all unfair or even stupid, but you come here seeking our knowledge so play by our rules or go home. OR have a thick skin, listen and learn and maybe become an X-Club member yourself.

BTW, this doesn't mean we all have to agree on everything. I agree it actually good to get different perspectives. The problems come in how some people choose to express those differing opinions.
