This thread could easily ask "Why stay in the US?" "Leave Now!" Any Single/Divorced Male of Retirement age (or has the means to Retire) who enjoys this hobby and stays in the US is a fool. Pick a country any country. I came to Thailand to Retire. Other guys go to the Philippines, Costa Rica, the DR, Mexico, Spain, Portugal, etc. Whatever country you pick it will be way cheaper than the US - cost of living and for the women. All it takes is some balls to make it happen. Stop making excuses - pull the trigger and just do it. All the guys here say the same thing - wish I would have Retired earlier. Remember this saying - "FEAR IS TEMPORARY BUT REGRET IS FOREVER!!!

Was just about to post the same thing except saying Colombia

I have a friend who desperately needs to come here but he's obsessed with his Harley, classic Camaro sports car, big stereo, furniture...he asks "What do I do with these things???" I said, "Sell them!!!", and I guarantee the rides you get down here will make you forget those rides, you can't slam your little buddy in the tailpipes!!!

What you've written here is the exact reason I have decided to go to CR next month. I'm literally exhausted by these girls BS in Vegas. I have no issue what so ever getting 8s and 9s here. It's actually fairly easy in comparison to other places, but the upkeep, gifts, attitudes, pettiness, it's all just overwhelming. I'm starting to hate them all and I need to curb this attitude of "f it" and "f them" sooner than later. I believe CR will be perfect for a total reset. And I can return to US with a better or at least different perspective.

As always, I enjoy reading these posts.

However, yes, always a however or but, I live here full time and am building a home by a beach town (not Jaco!). The picture everybody paints makes a nice canvas but as a full time retired professional one should start looking past the Chica/tica aspect and start thinking more about the country you may want to retire to or play in.

For starters, I moved here for the quality of life and NOT quality of women. CR is a very biofiverse country with more scenery than bikinis. Volcanos, rainforests, Pacific, Caribbean, etc. Did you know the nicoya peninsula is a Blue Zone. Google that one!

True, the women are pretty. But as you veterans know, how many times has your wallet been emptied from sad ass stories from your favorite novia. Worse yet! A RFM is bad enough. Just wait for the "my period is late" story. How many good nights of sleep will you get that week?

Here is my point. I moved to CR because I am health conscious, retired, and am able to live a good life here. And to those that say it is cheap to live here, just google which is the most expensive Latin American country to live in. Only one answer. Costa Rica.

Again, I have zero complaints. I chose to retire here.

But at top of my list was the people, the Quality of life, the Pura Vida attitude you do not get in Nicaragua, Panama or wherever else.

Bottom of my reasons was the women.

My point is this. Too many people treat CR as a pu*sy harem. But in fact, it is a great country that just happens to have a lot of pu*sy.

Just my two cents from a veteran of CR who lives here among the good people and biodiverse nature.

I got some friends who prefer Nicaragua and Colombia, specifically Medellin, I find Nicaragua beautiful and cheap but boring.

I'm a big city guy and live now in San Jose and walk everywhere, rarely need a taxi or uber, usually when I need to go to Escazu. I take the bus to Sabana or walk to Paseo Colon.

I would die of boredom in one of the little towns in the middle of nowhere, and I left steamy hot South Florida to come here, no desire to live in any beach town here and sweat my balls off 24/7, plus the cost of a/c I've been hearing about is crazy.

My opinion is I would need or at least want a car if I was stuck in one of the little towns or beach towns, and one thing I like about being here is no car payments, no gas costs, no insurance costs, no maintenance costs....

I'll go visit my buds in Colombia and who knows, may love it there. They say it's a lot cheaper and the girls are not as hard core as the HDR and SL girls, provide more gfe experiences and are cheaper....hmmmm....worth investigating...

My one buddy who spends a lot of time there was telling me he thinks I made a mistake applying for residency here in CR, I told him I can apply for residency in Colombia as well if I changed my mind and loved it, but for now, I know this little country inside and out and am happy here.

I have a couple hotties that I trust and provide gfe...but they send me pics of their girls and I have to admit...intriguing...

Many annoying things I've learned to tolerate being outside the USA, mostly small petty issues... 8)

I'm willing to tolerate them as long as plenty o hot poon tang continues to exist to make me forget whatever irritation exists, lol

Normally I wouldn’t intrude on this type of thread as to each his own. But in reading your post I felt like making a comment would hopefully be both pertinent and helpful. All of the things that you mention that draw you to San Jose you will find at a whole different level in MDE. Let’s go over your list.

Big city lifestyle- no comparison. I believe the population of San Jose is around 1 million, MDE around 4 million.

Cost of living- again no comparison. Depending on exchange rate, things are significantly cheaper in MDE. And the exchange rate, while down a little lately, has been very good for quite a few years now.

Public transportation- cheap taxi’s, good bus lines, excellent metro system. Get around the entire city easily and cheaply. Don’t need a car at all.

Beautiful women, GFE the norm, majority don’t have a hardcore bone in their bodies- MDE hands down. Oh, and a lot cheaper also. Haven’t run into many cien girls there at all over the years.

Yes, there is something to be said for familiarity. For a lot of people it’s hard to step outside of their comfort zone. And I admit that MDE is very different and is too far out of the comfort zone for some.

But since you already have friends who go there and know the ropes and sing it’s praises, I’m suprised that you haven’t at least taken the opportunity to visit and see what it’s all about.

Given that it ticks off all of your boxes, you might find it to be even a better fit for you than San Jose. I know for me and the majority of my friends there is no comparison as far as both quality and value go. Granted it’s not perfect, and for some San Jose may be a better fit. It all comes down to the individual person.

Considering your post, you owe it to yourself to check it out. Even if it ends up that you like San Jose better in the end, at least you’ll know for sure. But as it more than fulfills the criteria that are important to you I would be surprised if that was the case.

And sorry if I highjacked the thread. Not my intention. Just trying to provide some insight to this specific poster.

I am in MDE first trip after 8 trips to San Jose
The only point on which San Jose wins is maybe one feels slightly safer because it does not have such a violent past as MDE. and English is more widely spoken in San Jose whereas in MDE not so much
MDE is far cheaper and girls are good quality and GFE if chosen well:)
Club Gusto in MDE is very similar to Del Rey:)
But either of these two can never never beat Thailand..its a far superior level both of these cities will never get to

Why Costa Rica? Costa Rica is an adventure as is Medellin and Thailand. Each has advantages over the others. All are better than what you get in the States. At this point in life quality of experience is more important than quantity. I have no problem finding great quality here. Can I get it cheaper elsewhere? Probably but why the extra travel and exploration? My familiarity with what I have here makes things a snap. I don't need the adventure anymore. There are two ways guys generally find there way here. They come with a group of guys with someone knowing the ropes or they make the plunge solo. It takes courage to try it solo. This is why it is an adventure. Deciding to go on vacation by yourself to a country where your main language may or may not be spoken involves stretching your comfort zone. You study all that you can to minimize the fear of being lost and unable to communicate. This forum gives enough information to make Costa Rica easy. Between this forum and the centralized locations that most visitors here stay in San Jose and Jaco a newbie has plenty of help in learning how to take care of themselves. The decentralized scene in Medellin is not an easy place to go solo and Thailand is just too far away.

These observations of Pops' succinctly put the venue arguments in perspective.

kinda surprised how TJ comes up so seldom in the conversation
maybe because its the least safe of the destinations
but there sure is a LOT of beautiful women and a very good time can be had
but this thread is about CR and there are things i will always have fond memories of there
im sure there are still a bunch of good reasons to travel to Chepe for the single male
out of all the destinations mentioned i think it has the best chance of a solo guy getting solid direction
bunch of places helpful guys generously offer guidance for free

I agree with the sentiment..I was just saying in a way that CR is not the only place on earth...mind you it is the only Latin place where you can get by very easily without any Spanish:)

Thanks, Skosh, good advice. I've got two friends that now go there all the time and have pretty much said all of what you say, so it sounds intriguing. I haven't gone yet because I got spoiled, I was living in S Florida and developed a "Sugar Baby", mind blowing super hot Puerto Rican.

She worked for me part time, cleaned my house and cleaned my ...She was one of the best I ever had, she was a little sex engine, plus I got my house cleaned every week so I was spoiled and didn't even come to CR for two years...Why go out to eat at a restaurant when you have a stocked kitchen and cook, lol.

Well, all good things come to an end, and I reached the age for early retirement and since I know CR and have lived here before, I came here. Women are women everywhere, and I have a habit of developing faves and getting gfe no matter where I go, and getting them well trained.

I could probably get some in Saudi Arabia, lol, so the notion "They're better in Colombia'' is possibly true, but I get lucky here too. I will visit them before the year is out, they rent a big house cheap down there, and since they are experienced, they can show me the ropes.

Since I'm on soc sec and work part time via internet, I could move to Ukraine, it beats both together, I had a friend stay there and he sent pics of stunning smart beautiful model type women. In any event, you don't marry a country and if I feel it is superior when I visit, I can stay there. Will check it out, probably this year...thanks for taking the time to give me your take.... :D

I am glad that one of my posts has stimulated some discussion.

However, part of my point is still a bit misinterpreted.

Women live in every city on earth. I choose to live based on the quality of life I am going to have in the place I live in not the quantity of women who live there.

And to the commenter who stated he would never live in a beach town here, to you Sir send me a PM and I will send you fotos of where I live. Driest part of the country. Cactus growing everywhere. Home of the best hotel 2017 in Central America. No traffic.

Weekly in season rentals on luxury homes average $5000. Average.
No slums here. English is spoken everywhere.

Sorry for getting off the topic but pretty women are everywhere and each country and city will have appeal to different people.

I just put the quality of my life above other things.

Women are not the priority of everyone. Beach areas in Costa Rica can be beautiful. I prefer San Jose where I live because it is not as hot, fewer bugs, wider selection of activities and easier access to products There are plenty of drawbacks but it works for me. Having endless access to beautiful women available for companionship or just to talk is not something that other areas of Costa Rica readily offers and is pretty much non existent in the states.
