This is a great topic. I wanted to come with a friend the first time I went to CR and since I did so much research and I had great help. My friend that came with me is not really into mongering, def did not have as much fun as me. Even though he is a trooper and he was only there for a few days, he doesnt really like the hobby so he would find excuses and not partake as willingly. The point of all this is that if your friends don't want to come, don't force them, they probably don't wanna p4p and are just happy the way they are. Trust me on this, every time you mention Costa Rica you are being judged by your friends and everybody else, but who cares? I'm actually looking forward to my next solo trip in 10 days, 18 hours and 19 mins but who's counting? I know I'll meet amazing people there, have a crew and have fun with people who have the same interests as me. And if I don't meet anyone, I'll just do my own thing and still have a good time because no one is judging me or giving a rats ass of what I do.

This was a very good post. Just like its mostly futile to "save" women, in the same respect, it can be said for friends in terms of "saving" them from living mediocre lives. Everyone is different. Honestly, one friend just recently said he wants to come to Colombia with me next year. Although im excited about this, I am now hestitant because im so used to traveling by myself and now feel i will be liable for his safety/well being/happiness. There are definitely tradeoffs to bringing friends on these trips. I guess it isnt so straightforward as i thought. Honestly, I can easily go to these places by myself, meet up with other mongers and have fun. But i guess when you know/have a good thing, it feels wrong keeping it to yourself.

Brother, I know exactly what you are talking about and feel your pain. I used to be the same way, trying to get friends to come with me on my trips and telling them how stupid they are spending 1,000, 2,000 in a strip joint when you can have all the fun you want with beautiful women for a few days for the same amount of money, but they are just too proud or something. Costa Rica is an amazing place, if they dont wanna enjoy it too bad for them.
Plus, you could not be more right about worrying about if your friend is having a good time and making a good impression, you won't enjoy as much. In my opinion, if your friend is as open minded as you are as far as having fun, he'll be ok, if he isn't don't even bother, more broads for us 8) 8)

Nobody had to convince me. My divorce was final on a Wednesday and the following weekend I was in San Jose.

Do you think people judge you when saying that you just returned from a trip to costa rica, solo? I've only made 2 trips, and have only told a few people I went, and told no one that I partook in certain activities. I do want to visit the philippines, but would rather tell no one that as I would be concerned of people judging. I'd want to consider some story if I ever get to visit there.

I could care less if people judge me and I make no bones telling them I went for the sex. They look at me funny and I tell them I am not joking them show them some pictures of some of the girls I have been with. Naturally I do not do this in mixed company and tell the guys I wish I would have found out about it in my 20's as I never would have gotten married....... Thank god I got divorced though.

As for getting friends to visit I have made the trip a few times with them or they would meet me down in CR after I arrived but going solo is definitely the most fun. I was always free to do what I wanted when I wanted and never had to worry about someone being hungry or wanting to leave when I was having a good time. Luckily my friends are not afraid to take off on their own, and can manage solo just fine, but it is always a good time when we are together.
