Damn, what is going on in the gulch and CR? I was perusing some news articles(and I mean in the last 6 months), an inordinate amount of murders and deaths in CR. A Florida gringa(she was hot too) was stabbed by her Tico lover in the hotel, La Casa 69(may not be in the Gulch-not sure), the gringo murdered with his family, an oriental dude jumped out of the 4th floor of Hotel Morazon to his death on the street, 2 deaths in the HDR last year(one of them I was there when La Fuerza & coroners office came to get him), I witnessed a fight late one night that spilled out of the DR that resulted in shots being fired right in front of me, another gringo dead, the working girl in Jaco last year……crazy goings on down there.

Drugs, desperate times, hopelessness??? In all my years going down there, never saw this. And I am not trying to say it isn't safe, just strange….

I think it was last March or April on a trip I was there and two putas in Jaco brutally stabbed another to death. It was said either here or in the paper that they were mad at her for coming to Jaco from San Jose. A chica I was hanging with was sent pics of it by her amiga and showed me. It was gruesome. I was looking for a link but couldn't find one.

Yes, I definitely feel safe and walk freely. They did not hide the story it was in the paper. Same for the Florida woman which was really a sad story that she was killed by her tico lover. The amateur sociologist in me is fascinated with the recent murders and suicides in CR. I have never seen it like this before; such a lack of respect for life and I definitely think it is a result of desperate times; drugs, economy and hopelessness of no way out.

I agree with Mkink...tourists here on too much excess of everything resulting in OD's & heart attacks. Too much viagra/ED pills lower BP at alarming rates so cuidado with it.
