None of us know what is going to happen in the future, but we can look back and see what has happened in the past. On Nov 11, Jeff posted that Scores would be closed from Dec 23 to Jan 6. On Dec 3, someone posted that Scores was closed. Then Jeff replied that they were open, and working through a few issues with a partner. On Dec 20, Jeff posted that they were closed for Christmas, a deal had been worked out, and would reopen Jan 7. None of the posts stated what day they actually closed; but obviously they closed before Dec 23, contrary to what Jeff had posted on Nov 11.

I think Jeff could discredit some of the posts if he would open up and tell what really is happening. Why did they close earlier than planned, will he be the manager if/when they reopen, do they still have the same employees (not talking about the chicas), will the place be the same when it reopens as when it closed?

If anyone has reservations for anytime after Jan 6, they deserve to be told if a room will be available for them.

I doubt permanently, MH - never a shortage of dreamers with a few bucks who want to live out a fantasy, and experience firsthand how to make a million in Costa Rica (start with 2 million )

As much as I want them both to survive, I am not sure the 'market' is capable of floating the two businesses. At issue, I think, is the 'market' they serve being principally gringo visitors.

Locals have many options for their monger colones, and I just don't see them choosing a place where their own language is marginalized by the number of tourists 'clogging up the joint'. If locals aren't comfortable with a place, if they perceive it as a tourist dive, and if they don't feel welcome there, then they will not patronize it in the volumes necessary to make a dependable income stream.

Obviously I am ignorant to the many facets of these businesses, and don't really know what challenges they face. I can but look, listen, and theorize based upon my interpretation of universal business norms.

I wish them both the best of luck in the new year, and beyond.

Given the rumors, it would be helpful if Jeff would communicate with the forum. There is the understandable concern on the part of members who have reservations at Scores, and may be worried about their accommodations for the upcoming year.



So, I would encourage those members with reservations to contact Scores directly to confirm their reservations. There is both a local number (country code 506) and number in the US. My recommendation is to call both numbers, and draw your own conclusions from the response you receive.
