I also give a thumbs up to Café Moka. It is in one of the corners in the Mercado Central.

Café Moka has very good coffee. They have about 6 different kinds. Most tourist buy the 2 most expensive ones. Most (all?) the Ticos and Me buy the two cheaper ones. For my taste buds, the dark roast cheaper one is by far the best taste. It is about c2700 for a 1/2 kl bag (a little over a pound). If you like a milder coffee the other cheaper one is good.

Also, since it is not always convenient for me to go all the way to Mercado Central when I need coffee I actually usually buy the Montana Brand (c2200 for 1/2 kl at the moment) available in all the grocery stores here. I actually cannot tell the difference in the taste of it and the dark roast moka!! The 1820 brand available in the groceries is also very good

Just my personal opinion but the only thing good about the Britt brand is the marketing program they have! Most Tourist think they have to buy Britt. It is by far the highest priced coffee in CR and in my opinion the worst tasting of all the coffees here-even the very cheap coffees taste better to me. Britt also sells the same coffee locally under a different name and at about 1/4 the price of Britt.

Would you share with us the name of that brand? Assuming that doesn't jam you up.
